Hey so my sohc ka got a timing chain rattle during cold start, so i pulled the valve cover off
but i still see both guides are still there. But there is some slack on the plastic side (right)
Is this normal or do i have to tighten the chain somewhere so that it will not cause rattle on cold startups?

FSM should have the procedure to reset the timing chain tensioner. It is oil pressure driven. Could also be a bad tensioner or bad oil pump. I did a SOHC timing chain job once @ 95k miles due to loud intermittent ticking lifter noise expecting to find broken chain guides and found barely any wear on the guides. Replaced them anyway but I believe all the noise was due to a tired oil pump - I replaced that too.
