There's a tutorial on this site that says that you can wire your tach wire to the positive wire on your ignition coil to get it to work.I had the ka24de swap a while back, and the tach is dead at all times because it's reading the wrong signal.

Now i'm at the point of wiring it to the ignition coil...there are 3 wires.

and two screws beneath the clip. The tutorial pictures have long since elapsed and i've stripped a bit of the white wire to try to see if the tach moves, and then solder it afterwards, but no movement.

Is it supposed to be wired elsewhere on the coil? It's a 91 ka24de. Car is a 1990 240sx se.

If needed, here's the tutorial: http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=272023

dude, just get a tach from a dohc.....run to the junkyard, tear out some dohc gages, or buy some online, take off the clear plastic shield, take off the black pulastic piece, and take the 2 screws out that hold the tach in there, do the same to your gage cluster, now put the dohc tach into the sohc tach's place, plugs right into your harness and you're set. it's easy, it will take all of 15 minutes and no custom wiring
