For a couple months now, every time I start the car I need to give it gas until I start driving off or else the car will stumble and die. If I forget to give it gas or don't give it enough it dies out and takes like 20x to start again.

Also, when I leave it in gear decelerating it pops like no other. Sounds cool to all the ignorant 16yr olds but I'd rather have my car running right. Then when I'm stopped and then start to take off, I start to go and as soon as i touch the gas the rpm's drop like it's going to stall then jumps back up to normal.
Any ideas? egr, iacv, etc? These common problems

Btw, it's a 1990, 5spd, sohc, intake and straight pipe from headers to muffler.

Thanks in advance

when was the last time you replaced the O2 or seafoamed your car?

google ; seafoam nicoclub and it should be the first result (how to seafoam your car the right way) if you haven't. Could be the AIV on the intake gunked up or your reed valve is stuck open

check your plugs, may need new ones or just cleaned, gapped, and torqued properly. try unplugging your maf and seeing if it runs better too.

I changed the plugs 2 weeks ago, didn't seem to help much, I haven't had the car for too long. Going to do a de swap in a few months, just want this car to run fine for the time being.

I'll try unplugging the maf and see if it runs better, and I've heard about seafoaming the car but never done it, I guess I'll give it a shot.

it does wonders and the NICO guide is a great.

I am guessing all emissions are there but not functioning properly. SOHC ka's are good times. just stay on top of maintenance.

I would say plugs, injector or timing. Do the basics (fuel filter, PCV, injector orings, plus wires, cap, rotor, time it)n And then see.
