I fully rebuilt my sohc engine and she is running funny. Here is what happens. On start up she revs to 1200-1300 and then falls down to 900. She will sit and idle around 900. When reving the engine it kinda hesitates and will then get on it. It almost feels like she is missing. When she heats up to operating temp and i am drivng it she will start to die when i hit the brake, 500 or less rpm(don't know why other than the lights draining the power but i have a fresh battery in there). When i gas it after that to save it from dying it will hunt around for idle and then idle fine at 900. She has a gassy smell out of the exhaust like it isn't burning the gas properly. I unplugged the MAFS and the idle improved but i was unable to rev her at all or she would just die.The block was bore 40 over and was also decked and so was the head. The plugs have a lot of carbon on them and everytime i check them i clean them. I am also running an aftermarket header and i notice that the plug wires get really hot. Since the running issues only begin when the engine heats up could this be a heat thing. What i mean is could the plug wires be getting to hotcould the compression in the block be to much for stock ignition when hotcould the plugs not be hot enough to keep up with the compressionMy other concern is the other side of the engine on the fuel aspect. How can i check to see if the injectors are working properly at home?
