Well I was planning on swapping a new SOHC this Saturday, when my motor decided to say bye bye tonight!

Oddly enough just a few kms after rolling over to 260, she kicked the bucket. The car wouldn't rev past 2500rpm, and I tried to start it after letting it sit for 10 and it ran like crap and died. I assume that my noisy lifters was due to my oil pump going on its way out. The oil light flickered tonight as well. I check the oil level, and it was all good. My chain was stretched and timing advanced a full 15 degrees to compensate. Oh well, just a pain to have to pay the tow bill.

Good bye old SOHC!!

Hello new SOHC!! I'll try and take some pics this weekend. The motor has net timing kit and gaskets from Nissan. Only has 180KM. I have plans for a full blown KA-T.

Funny thing is I was messing around with this chick that I work with for 20-40 min after work, car was running the whole time. LOL it was idling. I wonder if I didn't fool around if I would have made the 45 min trip home!!

Why not SOHC? Well its a matter of choice. I like the SOHC motor. Its one cam and all I need. Plus its easy to work on.

I am not gonna turn this into a DOHC vs SOHC.

I like SOHC period.

I didn't want it to go into SOHC vs DOHC thread, but it might've. Sorry 'bout that. I just wanted to know why.

Darn that sucks. At least you got another engine to plop in.

Good luck with it!

Were you planning to rebuild the 2nd SOHC before putting it in?I'm thinking about rebuilding another KA and swapping my engine and turning up the boost, but no money right now.

my motor had 50,000 more Kms than you..all original...I think thats a noticeable difference

That oil light flicker was the cherry on top. I have always heard if it flickers or comes on, it means trouble!

Oh yea, she has some nice tits!! BC girls FTW!!

The other SOHC has been mildly rebuilt with new timing kit and gaskets, the car is ok for now. I have new stuff for the bottom end and top end on its way. I am going to rebuild it in 2 months when I have some more cash flow.
