SOHC rebuild question

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

hey guys im doing an oem rebuild on my kae and am planning on running like 7psi of boost. would you recommend using arp main, head, and rod studs and bolts on the oem rebuild?

since you will already have it apart i would recommend do the arp head studs, the rod studs not so much. the stock internals can handle 7psi easily but play it safe and do it while you can. good luck

oh, ok cool. does anyone know what would be good to tune with for the sohc?

well if you have 600 bucks jim wolf technology will reflash a auto ecu to your specs such has how much boost, size of injectors, etc. other than that maybe a Apexi super air flow controller (safc)

There aren't a lot of options as far as tuning goes for a KA-E. If you only want to run a small amount of boost I suggest going the FMU route. The KA-T section is a great resource, a lot of your turbo related questions can be answered there. Good luck

haha i wish but no money to fund it right now lol. i have looked into it a TON tho so i know what to go for when i get some money.

please change your main and rod bearings especially if your have high milage and your gonna rebiuld for boost, studs and bearings and head gasket

well,ya im rebuilding the whole engine. with all new components except rods.so i will be getting new bearings fo sho.

head gasket wise there is a guy with a website about a full turbo kae build and hes used a dohc cometic metal head gasket but cut off the front timing cover part cuz its different and used silicone on it.
