you need to explain more about where you leak is from, and how "lil" is "lil".

Also, what exactly is happening w/ the fuel cut - rpms, load, how much throttle (relatively), gear (auto or manual), driving conditions.

Need more details on the hesitating.

Did this all start because of the exhaust leak, or did you always have a leak.

What did you do to the car recently?

When can you smell the gas - all the time? or just when you are punching it?

Obviously, the more details, the easier it is for someone to e-troubleshoot your problem.

thanks, ok um theres one bolt missing from the exhaust manifold and i changed the exhaust manifold gasket and it still has the leak.... my car has been driving ok with the leak other than the leak burning up spark plugs wires.. but i check the spark plug wires and it wasnt burnt i put some foil around the spark plug wire being burnt and it hasnt been burnt since.. my car is 5spd.. when im at full throttle its car doesnt want to go and it takes some time for it to get up to speed.. and i smell gas all the time... when im at idle the car vibrates alot and if i keep the rpm up to 2k it doesnt viberate.... the only thing ive done to car is change the exhaust manifold gasket... thanks again

that sounds really weird. Have you checked your spark plugs for proper gapping and such?

Did you remember to plug the o2 sensor back in - how's the condition on that?

Remember to tighten the egr pipe & aiv pipe/hose, etc?

I used to run w/ 3 missing head->manifold bolts, small leak, but always worked fine otherwise.

I'd tighten all the bolts again to make sure.

not to jack this thread but why is it that the exhaust manifold bolts are always missing on 240's? when i bought mine it had 3 missing too, and my friend just bought one that had 2 missing. do they just fall out? is this a common problem on the ka?

hey jdmtim, i had the same problem awhile back, it means one of your cylinders is misfiring, for me it was a fuel injector misfiring causing the cylinder to misfire. it would happen sometimes, and then i would just rev it up and it would fix the problem. when the car would idle it would sound like a helicopter and shake violently until i rev'd it past 2k. sounds exactly like what you're experiencing, Im in orlando too, i go to UCF, whereabouts are you ?

also, to the guy that posted about the exhaust manifold bolts missing, i know exactly what you mean! mine had one missing, as well as a valve cover bolt!.. either the people who own them before us are idiots and lose them or maybe there's something to this.. hehe, i don't know.
