I'm Finally getting around to getting my SR ready to drop in and I was looking at the parts that came with the swap. Everything looked cool till I got to the MAFS..... On the back of it someone had written 89 240sx SOHC. Guess someone decide since they didn't have the SR MAFS with the clip, they'd replace it for me. The problem I see, is that the plug for the MAFS on the SR harness looks completly different. It has 4 pins, whereas the SOHC MAFS has 3 pins. There are only 3 wires on the SR harness but how safe is it to just remove these pins from the plug and go directly to the MAFS.... I'd be worried about it shorting out.

I thought the SOHC MAF was interchangeable (direct replacement) with the s13 SR MAF?

Edit: Did some further research...you are right, the KA24E SOHC MAF will need some wiring in order to mate it up to the SR MAF harness. According to my research, you basically just match up the 3 colors from the SOHC MAF to the SR MAF harness...use the SOHC MAF PLUG:

Black- BWhite- CBlack w/ white- A

Here is another take on the matching:

On the MAFs plug there are 2 wires: GREY and ORANGE. The GREY wire has two wires inside: WHITE and ORANGE.

The ORANGE inside of the GREY goes to WHITE.

The WHITE inside of the GREY goes to BLACK.

The single ORANGE goes to BLACK w/ WHITE stripe.

It certainly doesn't appear to be... my guess is the sensor will work if you wire in the correct plug.

It works fine, you just hack the AFM plug off the SR harness and solder the AFM plug off the KAE harness.

That would be great, but I don't have a plug that fits the 89 MAFS, the one from the 92 is bigger.

Don't cut... remove the pins from the plug and swap them... bust out the paperclip and be patient. It's mutch more sanitary than cut wires...

What I did was just cut up the SOHC MAF (ground down those lumps that make the thing fit one way) then cut the 'side' of the thing off as well. Just look at the SOHC MAF and figure out what you would have to cut off it to get the SR harness to plug into it. I ran that for like 4 months before I went to a Z32 MAF. OR I could sell you my already modified one for $50 plus shipping.
