Hey guys I have a quick question... I just got my 3" cat back, I was going to do a swap very soon...but I had to take care of some other things first. So anyways.. I have this shiny new 3" cat back sittin on my bedroom floor and I really want to put it on, but Im pretty sure my old SOHC KA will lose a ton of power with it. Let me know if any of you guys have done this and how it runs...

Thanks, Matt

If everything else is bone stock you wont notce much of a difference at all. You may lose a little low end but you probably wont notice it much. I would recommend putting a header on it and a better cat though.. You would notice a decent power gain with tose parts.

Im not lookin for power gains from this terd...I just didnt want to lose power. I got tired of waiting and put it on.....I just took it for a ride and it actually feels better... I think it gained a few hp's cause it gets sideways now. haha

you're not losing power by increasing the exhaust size. you'd be shifting your power band higher. So what might feel like losing low-end power is just moving your peak power into the higher RPMs. a 3 in. exhaust on a KA is quite a benefit however. the KA already has tons of torque. It can use the extra boost up top.

My main concer was I didnt want to lose any low end TQ. As far as power up top, I dont know cause I never floor this thing, it has 215K miles on it, I dont want it to break. Im actually surprised it didnt lose anything cause I swapped out my stock 4.09 diff for a J30 with 3.90's and it still feels the same, maybe even a little better than before.
