i recently got me an s13 coupe. trying to find out info on the engine and body.

first question: do the ka24de and ka24e engines have interchangeable parts? mainly the block and/or heads. my mechanic tried telling me that i could just change the head on my sohc to a dohc and everthing is pretty much interchangable on those engines.

Is this true????zeropost?cmd=newtopic&id=130#http://for ... er...d=130#

You live in the city i work...

There are many threads on this and i don't know the details but I've heard it's a lot of effort and money for small gains. Quick example is you'll have to modify the timing chain cover because they are different. Its cheaper and easier to get a dohc engine so...

+you'll be different

-lots of effort/work/moneysmall gainscheaper/easier to buy ka24de engine

Why do you want to do it? If you want to be different thats fine, but if you want power and have money then just get the dohc if you want it and build that.

you got me interested and i found this build of a sohc with dohc head....zerothread?id=40742too bad the picture links are broken.

I live in the brentwood that's in norcal an hr from sacramento....

as far as the thread on the sohc to dohc head swap, i read that it really bumps up the compression ratio and some other nissans ka's have a timing chain cover that will fit this hybrid swap.

smug10 said it really puts out good power as a result from raising the c. ratio. especially for mostly only using stock parts and the cost of doing the hybrid swap.

the only thing i really didnt get a good idea of from the thread was the how daily drivabliilty is and anyone whos had the hybrid engine long term
