I just read a post from smug510, he had talked about putting a DOHC head on the SOHC block, i was wondering if the SOHC head would work on the DOHC block?

If you're skilled enough then yes, it could be made to work but even as much as I love the SOHC...why?

Not sure I know the timing covers are different. If you have a head gasket for both you can compare the difference. I would think the DOHC may have a few extra cooling passages, but I'm not sure.

The old datsun L28E and L28ET block are almost indentical just that the turbo block has more cooling passages in it. We took a non turbo block and took a turbo head gasket and marked the extra cooling passages then drilled out the extra cooling passages until we hit the main one running along the side in the block. Then we used the turbo head. You might run into the opposite being to many coolant passages.

Seva the reason is because my current motor the head is bad, i can get a shell with a SOHC motor in it with a bad block, i was thinking about using the SOHC head on the DOHC block.

What all is "bad" with the head on your current engine? Chances are, it'd be alot easier to get a used DOHC and slap that on rather than pioneering a new headswap.
