Right now I am in the middle of a build. SOHC Using, JE Forged(Nismo) pop ups (yeah I'am an old school person) Carrillo rods (also Nismo) and Total Seal new trick rings I've had good luck with them, some folks don't like them.) Looking at around 12 1/2 to 13 to 1 compression on race gas. Most likely the engine won't be fired until this fall, as the race season has started and I don't want the down time to get the bugs out. Many logistic probs with flywheels, crank, etc. I want it right as I only want to spend money very carefully and I want the engine to live. Will be running a modified stock fuel injection set up, with a modified ECU and all. Many new things that I am dong on this, on which the old engine does not have. (Datsun L-16 series) That's all I am going to talk about now.

Timing wise, since this will be a race engine I don't have to worry about low end rpm's, the engine is being built to operate between 3,200 and 7,000 rpm's. This is going into a midget asphalt/dirt race car.Check us out at: http://www.pcmidgets.com My car is the #66 car. MIKE

I am also using JE pistons. Had mine custom made for my SOHC at 10.5:1 CR (up from 8.6:1). Im using the total seal rings that came with them, but read later that the like to burn oil, and 3 years later, they do like to burn oil.

Its been about 3-4 years since i built my motor, but IIRC, i paid like $660 for the set of pistons. I ordered them through the place i got my rebuilt kit, http://www.flatlanderracing.com/, althought im sure you could get them ordered from just about anywhere else. JE doesnt have SOHC pistons in their inventory, so you will need all the specs you want them to built to handy.

And, no, this is not a race built motor like RACE 66's. My car is totally streetable, although with 93 octance as a minimum.
