I have an 89 hatch that used to have a sohc. After my tming chain guides broke, I decided to delete the emissions stuff using the thread I found at this forum. zerothread/274166 I can do this since I live in Rio Rancho, NM and we don't do emissions yet. (Jan 2010 maybe) Unfortunately, it didn't work. I thought I messed up the timing, with other stuff that happened, I eventually picked up another sohc for $50 and was told it worked, but it didn't. Both of my blocks were shot as I eventually found out.

Then I got an offer for a working dohc and was allowed to install it before I bought it. The motor was very dirty with oil and dirt. I purchased the motor and the car it came out of for $500 because the gasket needed to be changed. I removed the air compressor and installed the motor. I referred to several threads about the swap. The first was about swapping the ecu. I did the body harness mods as the one in these threads:zerothread/16244http://forums.nicoclub. ... ead/283484

I also did the tach swap with the help of these threads. I had pictures of most of this stuff but now I can't find them. Did I mention I'm a pothead?

Anyways... The car worked!!!

-It is all bone stock. The following are things I have done to it.Vacuum line removal-Removed that retarted line that comes out of the exhaust and back into the intake-Removed all A/C components and brackets-I couldn't delete the PS like on the SOHC, so I idled the PS pump-Gutted the rear behind the seats, so I have a 2 seater

Needs:-5-speed swap-a little brake work-lowered-headers, intake, exhaust(the basic stuff)

I don't believe I have a governer and I can easily fly in the highway. I know I reach 60mph within a few seconds and 60-100 even faster. No doubt I don't need an SR20DET to be fast.

Heres the carHere's the motor

The exhaust thing I deleted

The idled PS pump

just added an overfill

I would like to thank NicoClub for this forum, My neighbor Steve Roscoe and his son Matt who devoted themselves to help me, and my uncle for his extensive knowledge of machanics and his diagnostics nose.

not bad...

but clean up those wires. At least hide the mafs harness under the intake tube or something, or ziptie it to the distributor cap harness

Haha, thats classic man. I can just see the MC commercial now...

Bic Lighter - $1.89Swisher Sweets - $5Fat sack of chronic -$50Forgetting your turn countless times because you are so ripped that driving is second nature - Priceless

Master Card, if only it could pay for weed....

But seriously now, nice swap. As the others mentioned it looks really clean for the most part. Glad to see that once you got a good engine the swap worked out well.

I got a few more things done.

-Touch up on the rims -hood lift -mechanical fan delete -electric fan rewire/install :confuse -adjusted the full throttle switch (it was way off) -installed my stereo (but still need wiring) -fixed my seat adjustment lever i needed a screw for -cable tied my left broken motor mount (i dont wanna pay $50 for a mount) (guess I should)-washed the dog

Heres a pic of the rim and the hood lift

No more stupid noisy fan

I rewired the AC fan to run with the fuel pump as posted in Nicoclubhttp://www.240sx.org/links/ins...l.htm

The black is gound/ blue is Positive

This is where I grounded the wire

Came around the battery this way

Hooked it to one side of the fuel pump fuse like thisJust twist the wire straight, insert into one side of the fuse insert, then insert the fuse over it

Put the cover over it like this

Washed Biggie

This is how she looks now

Next on the to do list:-Install the fuel pump cut off switch(anti-theft)-get the plug for my stereo-trouble shoot the sound system( I remember that the front speakers where good and I dont have rear anymore but I'm expecting some trouble)

I tried to get that wire fuse hookup thing but can only find the mini fuse one. I am going to fix it though.

Tap into your ignition harness don't go into your fuel pump. I've seen some cracked out stuff when people wire up stuff to their fuel pump.

your word for it. I suspected such. How would I do that? Is it a wire or fuse location? What about the anti theft idea as in http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215575

If i remember right the accessory is a blue wire in your ignition switch wiring. Test it with a multimeter to be sure. you probably SHOULD use a relay but it's not a necessity. It should get power in accessory and drop out during cranking.

take a step back from your car.

extend your left arm forward, hand flat, palm facing the ground.

raise your right arm HIGH into the air, palm facing forward.

slap the s*** outta your left hand.

BAD! BAD 240 owner. put your nose in your wiring and learn what you did wrong.

also, ziptieing a motor mount? i mean damn, im a 240 owner too, but zipties only work on wiring and body panels. not to hold your motor in the car.

Okay so I changed the way my fan works. Since I dont have air conditioning, I used the plug that goes into the compressor. I thought about having it wired so i can turn the fan on and off by using the AC switch on my climate control, but I couldn't figure it out right away. So the fan works great. You can see in the pic below how the fan goes through the front and what you cant see is that is goes under my air box, it comes around again and is spliced near the ignition coil as you can see.

Another thing I did was install a fuel cut off switch, it has a fuse before it reaches the pump so I'm sure I'm ok. I don't have an alarm yet but I will get one. Money is very tight. Im a starving college student but I try very hard.
