SOHC DOHC compatibility question...

I know someone has probably asked this already but I did a search and couldnt find an answer... I have a project car... a 91 240sx SE... it had a KA24E engine in it but I just bought the shell... will it be hard to fit a KA24DE in it? also... can the KA24E and KA24DE engines share the same transmission or are the trannies engine specific?

sorry if its a dumb question but I am learning and that's why I need clarification.
