I've seen on the SRSWAP website and on this forum that when you mount the SOHC AC compressor on the SR20DET, you need a custom bracket. Where can we get this bracket? Thanks in advance.

It would probably be cheaper to go to a junkyard, pick up a ka24de A/C compressor and put it in than gettin a custom brakket made. Only 2 or 3 bolts ill line up with the ka24de compressor but it will work.

Would the lines from my SOHC fit right on my SR20DET AC Compressor? I've already begun the switch of the motors, and just want to know how to finish up my ends.

HUH?I dont understand how I'm saying two different things? Im asking about the custom bracket to mount the SOHC AC Compressor to the SR20DET.

You say not to use the SOHC Compressor, but to use the DOHC compressor. I do have a AC Compressor on my SR20DET (Came with the motor), but the lines are cut. I was wondering if the lines from my SOHC Compressor (which came with the car and are hanging to the side as per the instructions below) will fit on the SR20DET Compressor if I cant use the SOHC compressor.

From the SRSWAP Site:Air Conditioning

Remove the KA engine without discharging the air conditioning gas. Pull the compressor off to the side and tie it up.

SOHC KA compressor requires a simple custom bracket to mount to the SR engine.

DOHC KA compressor usually bolts right on, using 2 of the 4 SR bracket bolts.

now i get what your saying. I dunno how much custom brackets are but i bet you could get a compressor from a junkyard a lot cheaper. If you are worried about venting your A/C into the air (which is illegal) just take your car to a auto repair place and have them drain it.After it is drained swap the engine and slap on the ka24de compressor. I dont know where you live but around me junkyards are litered with 240's...

EDIT: im not sure if the sohc lines work with the sr20's

Iwas going to keep my A/C then I said screw it, because I never use it. But if I was going to use it I would have put the existing KA24DE hoses on my SR20DET compressor. But I have never seen a KA24E compressor and don't know how different it is from the SR20DET. But if the lines match up from the two(meaning if there is the same number of hoses and at similar locations). I'd think it would work. Good luck.

ACE:I live in Miami FL. Impossible to have a car with no air conditioning. Imagine pulling up to a car full of ladies with your raw a55 ride and your pits dripping, not too cool.

I understand about the KA24DE lines, but I dont have KA24DE, Ive got a KA24E, which uses the completely different compressor. I would belive that the lines from a DOHC would fit on a SR Compressor, but for that I would just put my DOHC compressor on the car (as per above instructions).

Another solution to this problem would be if the DOHC Lines could be used on the SOHC Shell, then I could just put the Complete assembly including lines and compressor. If this was done, could you use the receiver/dryer from a SOHC?

Anyone else to add anything?

BTW ACE, your sig sounds alot like my past week. I pulled the SOHC engine, prepped the bay, and am almost done with the auto to manual conversion. Just waiting for the Nismo engine mounts and will add the red top SR when those come in.

not to mess up your back n-forth dialog. BUT. seems to me, you can only do 3 things(without a custom bracket): Use your existing lines on the SR compressor, used DOHC lines on the SR compressor, or get DOHC lines and compressor. What makes the difference is this. Are the SOHC and DOHC lines the same? if they are then they are probably the same as off the SR and will just mate up. Nissan dealer would have that answer.

Yeah I know I live in Washington where the pits dripping is actually just plain rain.

Yeah today was a blast for me. My dad and I installed my motor. I got the manual driveshaft hooked up and now there is a 5 sp shifter where the once boring automatic shifter sat. Hooking up various lines and such will continue to work tomorrow.:icesangel
