OK, so I'm looking to buy a coupe with a sohc in it with intents to learn to drift in it.

So for the moment will the Sohc hold up for learning in?My concern is that since it isnt dual cam will it make it significantly weaker and possibly blow up or something under such stress of drifting high reving red line?

Thanks for any imput

well, the SOHC is perrfect, just make sure its in good running condition, a DOHC is probably about 30hp more.... plus the SOHC is alot lighter

The SOHC is only 15HP and 10lbs/tq less than the DOHC. Will it hold up? Is it in good shape? Mine went for a hard 180K(saw lots of time at the rev limiter) before I seafoamed it and the valve seals said goodbye. Ive had DOHC's pop at 150K.

In short every motor is different, give it a tune up and flush the fluids, check compression, and go from there. Worst case scenario you blow it and you're out $50

How did the seafoam work out for you?
