sohc A/C problemo, turn ac on, idle falls sometimes dies.

hey, first of all i want to say thanks for clicking my post,

i got a 100% stock coupe and the ac work super great. i mean insanly great. but when i turn the switch on for the ac, the clutch makes a loud engauging click and my rpm dropp from 1100 to a couple hundred. sometimes it will even die. but if i have my foot on the gas, it engauges nicly. once the compressor is engauged. it works fine, rpm is fine. its the initial engauging part thats causing the trouble. i have an extra ac laying round, & i think its the clutch, should i swap out the clutch? what do you guys think is wrong?

Sure sounds like the clutch is actually binding up or resisting the cranks rotation. I'd say it needs to be changed

sounds good man, & thanks for the input. i just took apart my spare ac. imma switch it out next friday. ill get back to you guys & see if it works.
