I got a free KA24E from my friend after he swaped to an SR (which has never ever been done before), so anyways i started taking it apart so realnissan.com can help me improve it and i was real confused after i took the intake manifold off.. There are 4 butterflies in it right where it attaches to the head. Well i had no idea these engines had these, can someone please tell me exactly what the purpose of the extra butterflies are and if it is safe to remove them? Thanks a lot.

they are used to increase torque at low rpm.... take them all out..and all the parts that goes with them...they really don't help..make sure you block all the holes off..

So they are supposed to increase torque at low RPMs but they dont really? I'm trying to go all motor so i need the torque. Would there be any advantage if i were to take them out?

im guessing what Adamhu meant is take them out so u can free up the air flow. so u lose some low torque but gain better air flow. just my thought

I took mine off, I only closed up the side hole and the hole in the middle of the manifold.

the question is...do you need the torque at low RPM....no... you want it up top...
