Hi All,

My top was working fine then a few days ago it didn't want to come down to the windshield all the way?? after messing with it for a few min I finally got it to close (late at night and dark).

Important note!!****Read further with warning it will not make much sence without pictures. I will take pictures tonight to show the details of what I am talking about:****

After futher investigation there is an arm that attaches to the front part of the top that connects to the windshield that has a broken riviot. No parts of the mechanisim seem broken just that the riviot end has broken off and this arm is now free on one end.

Anyone know where to get parts for the top?

Thanks

Are you talking about this?

Whatever it is, some people are parting out verts, so you might be able to get it from them... I was thinking that what if I use JB Weld to reinforce weak spots on top mechanism. Do you think it's going to work? I'm afraid of my top parts falling apart and not being able to find replacements or fix it.

mine did the same thing, I suspect at the same spot yours did though its hard to tell. the rivets can be replaced with small hardware if you desire a quick fix.

Those pirctures in teh link are exactly what happenend. I am not sure about JB weld being a long term solution. I am planing on replacing my top in teh next few weeks so I will try to weld it up and check the other possible weak points. Jsut need to find a TIG welder to use. My Mig is a little to messy for the small space.

Thanks for the great info on this

mine broke in the same spot but mine either had a hole there or when it broke, it took part of the arm with it and made hole.

top_secret,In your case, if you had reinforced the back side with JB Weld, it could have been prevented. That's what I meant by using JB Weld. I just checked mine tonight and it looked okay for now... But you never know...

its no big deal though I just flick it down when I close the top and flick it back up when I open it. My power function hasn't worked since I swapped anyway.

I tig weld, so if anyone needs this done, ship me what you need fixed and I'll weld it for ya. Verts top pieces only - no charge. Just pay for shipping each way. Or, bring it by... I'm in NJ.
