Since I got a new (OEM) clutch installed, the feel on the pedal is very soft. Softer than any other car I've ever driven. It doesn't slip at all, and has no problems, but I would like it to have a much harder feel to it. I know when I put a new OEM clutch and slave cylinder in my truck the engagement was much more sure-footed and stiff. Does anyoen know what this could be?

I have sorta the same problem after I installed my clutch. My clutch pedal is sticky, so I am literally "double-clutching" my car. Could possibly be the slave cylinder. Have you tried bleeding your clutch again? There might also be a possibly of air in the system. I'm installing a new slave cylinder this weekend, so I'll let you know how that goes.

Hey,You may have a problem with the mysterious nissan 240sx"Clutch Loop Block"? I replaced the clutch, master and slave. My clutch still wouldn't engage properly at all times. We by passed the "Clutch loop Block" and it began to work great!http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....+loop

There is a guy selling the "bypass line" on EBAY for $40.I believe Nissan added this "feature" for SCCA cars.I paid $60 for the line through Nissan to bypass.

Hey TRPower7 - I'm seeing the same thing in my recently aquired 91 240...clutch works great but the pedal feel is nothing, makes my VW feel like a race clutch! Let us know if you get a difference after you bleed it or whatever you do.-Bud

As long as the clutch isn't slipping and it releases all of the way you are ok. This problem is usually caused by the new pressure plate as the springs are a little different. Nothing to worry about.

I actually adjusted the clutch using the bolt on the frontside of the pedal, it was all the way out. By tightening it down you shorten the travel the clutch pedal has to the top, and SOMEHOW it now feel smuch harder. I have no clue why this is, maybe someone can enlighten me.....but it worked?!

Just make sure that the clutch is releasing all the way and that it disengages all the way.

yea I replaced my Master Cyl, Slave Cyl, Clutch, Pressure plate and throw out, and now my pedal gets hard, same soft pedal feel, when it works, But the pedal gets hard, I bleed the sys at the damper, then it works fine for a couple of days then gets hard again, any Ideas, its like the fluid isnt gettig back to the master cyl.

I refer to it as a gasket as well (force of habit). Perhaps you prefer the term liquid gasket?

the clutch loop block is just a dampener, it makes engagement feel soft by eliminating the vibration and shock of the clutch engaging.

if you want a rougher more direct feeling engagement, just simply bypass it. (also will take less time to bleed the system once you do it because you have eliminated 1-2 feet of tubing).

to bypass it:

1. drain clutch fluid2. disconnect dampener to slave cylinder metal line3. disconnect clutch master cylinder to dampener metal line4. connect clutch master cylinder metal line to slave cylinder line bracket (you will have to bend the metal line it, go slow and be gentle)5. bleed system, may require a small amount of pedal adjustment since it should engage alittle sooner
