OK, let me just say that I live in Philly and my S14 is in such sad shape that the clear coat is peeling off of it and I can't even afford to drive the damned thing as much as I wished because it's just too expensive to to drive anymore, but I find the cash to go to events like NICOfest and drift and if I ever get coil overs and a diff on it I'd go to E-town for there drift events but I would never drift in public simply because it's against the law and honestly I don't even want to think about the liability I'd have to endure if something bad happened. What's going to happen when you go to do that again one night and the retard running up with the camera gets decapitated because you have a blow out, hit the curb and slice dudes head off with an exposed rim. I know your saying it'll never happen, but you can never say never.

As far as the facial recognition goes, and the license plate recognition goes, you'd be amazed at the technology and software that the police have access to. Again I realize the state of CA has all but removed any track days for public utilization, I'm sure the SCCA and similar organizations have drift days, look into it, for the cost of one reckless endangerment ticket you could become a member and drift safely, or better yet if you think you're good enough try to compete in drift competitions, NOPIDrift and Formula D both allow privateers to drift in the circuit so long a you can pass tech inspection, have a helmet, and can qualify.

lol. I say again. Street Vs track. The Track is much more safe but then again anyone may get killed at a track as well. Dont forget that motorsports are here because it once started in the street as well. The street Vs track mystery(sarcastic) has already been established. It seems most people have nothing else to say but concentrate on the negative aspects of this video.(makes me wonder if they are just hating on the drift/editing skills in which they lack of) My question, to those who gave there opinions on what is already known ,is do you have any feed back on the drifting and the quality of the editing at all?

As for the facial/license plate recognition, I think weve advanced greatly in technology. Once again tell us what we do not know. Yes, the police may crack down on this if they needed too. How do you jump to conclusions and assume that its an illegal area in the first place. How do you know its not private property in which permission was granted to play on? You dont.

I'd watch where you post up illegal activities like that there buddy, goes to show that not only are you too broke/cheap to go to a real track but you lack the intelligence to not post up something like that on Youtube, I mean if the cops took the time they could clearly make out not only the license plate numbers but 5-0 could nail you with facial recognition...
If they really want to take the time to find my plates and find me and nail me good for them,i'm still waiting, but until then, i'll be in parking lots that are in the middle of nowhere by a industrial park. And FYI i'm looking for the owner of the lot to see if he will let me use it to practice.

And I live in wisconsin, there were 3 events all year, I didn't even get my coilovers till the second one was over. And the SCCA doesn't hold drift events by me just a bunch of cone chasing events, you get kicked out for drifting. I don't know why were arguing about this there will always be drifting off the track, just look at racing, I go to milwaukee every weekend and what do I hear and see, street racing off everystop light at HWY 100. It's never going to end.....

He's been polite and very well mannered in every reply. As for the track vs. street, its common sence that the track is much more safe. I would have to say that my feedback for this video is that I like it very much. The drifting/control is very on point and the editing is awesome! Most people will see something and go directly to saying something negative towards your work due to reasons of fear or misjudgement. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK SHARKERIO
Fear of what? Doing this on the "streets"? No I say something negative because stuff like this hurts the scene and the enthusiasts. I was able to run around with my modded S13 for such a long time with no fear of getting busted of anything. Then drifting hits it big time on the streets and people start doing stupid ****. I get pulled over 7 times in 6 months. All because my car is a high profile car. That's BS. Yes, there's fear of crashing and stuff in the streets, but I have more fear of having my car crushed or taken away for doing something that I can easily do at the track. 100-150 bucks is nothing compared to losing your car or getting your license suspended, or even worse jail time. I'd rather not risk that to my only car and many people feel the same. Those who have been around a while know.

I'll admit the car control was there, but that doesn't make it alright.

Because, it's "street" drifting. It's never legal. And who in their right mind would let some guys drifting in their lot and **** up the pavement? Even if it's in private property, it's still illegal. I mean, seriously, who can pass this off as a "legal" event? You've gotta be kidding me.

Street drifting was cool 3 years ago, when people barely knew was drifting was. When drifting was still on the DL. But then it blew up and stupid people burned places. The whole scene went down. Cops started knowing what drifting was and what cars to look for. That's why most of the OG people stopped hitting the streets, stopped hitting the canyons, because the risk wasn't worth it. And with all the events going on nowadays, the smart ones got over hitting the streets.

Wow, seems like a personal vendetta to me. So this explains why your so angry on the "street". How can you say this hurts enthusiast when this is how everything started? Whindy mountains and lots to perfect ones skill. Im sorry the police are profiling you but no one put a gun to your head and told you to drop in those coilovers, dish out a whole months paycheck on wheels, place on that mean aero, and etc........ You've basically signed up for the harrassment. If you were smart enough you should have known that all this comes with the territory. Dont put the blame on others for your decisions or give excuses to justify your previous encounters with the law.

In a previous post I said that "street" drifting was referred to as being "non track". Meaning it was done on city and/or private property. City property is illegal but private property is not. Private property refers to right of ownership in which he or she as the owner has ability to dispense as they please. Rendering the idea of being able to drift on this private property if permission is given with the owner. How do you know that there wasnt a type of deal worked out ? You and I dont. Leaving You and I nothing to say about this situation.

I guess your claiming your one of the OG's here. How do you know that spots were burnt and people stopped hitting the canyons if you werent doing it yourself? I smell HYPOCRITE! Your wrong about the smart ones getting over the streets and heading to the events. Its the ones that can afford the events who head to the track and the true OG's never forget the streets.

But thank you for the compliment on the skills of the driver. My friend will greatly appreciate it. So what mods do u have on your S13? I have a hatch as well.

Vendetta? Right. Just because it started on the streets doesn't mean I won't appreciate the roots. But times change. Yes, I was there back in the days. But like I said, times change. Back then is not the same as now. The risk is so much higher now than it was before. I know I made the mods and such. I know it came with the territory, but the fact is that a few bad apples gave everyone a bad rep, even though just lightly modding their cars for fun use at the track.

And I'll go as far as assuming that what's done in that video isn't given with permission. You think cops won't bust you guys just because it's on private property? Lol. GL giving that excuse to the cops.

I know what it's like to get permission from people. I've had to deal with that in just running RC events. However, usually you have to deal with the property owner, just just the dude who's renting the building and lot. So no, I don't believe something was worked out to make ti allowed.

Yes true OGs never forget the streets, but they know times change. Things progress. They evolve for the better. And moving forward doesn't involve the streets.

No longer have a hatch. It was involved in a traffic accident. Didn't get another one because it became a hot car. I rock a Z32 now which I enjoy around town and at the track.

All I have to say is OMFG...a lot of you guys are cool and I have respect..but c'mon, we were in an empty *** parking lot with cars going about 30 mph...

There's a very distinct line between being unsafe and idiotic like doing a hogan through a main drag and just having some fun..and I think doing some low speed drifting in a empty parking lot falls under the latter..

I think some of you guys are just pissed that you spent 120 on a track day +tires +gas +food

That's unfortunate to hear that some of you guys get pulled over because you have a "high profile car." It's probable just the area you live in, because I want to say 75% of the people where I live don't even know what a 240sx is. Example. At my work (applebee's) when people ask me what I drive I have to say "a Nissan" beacuse when I say 240sx people just stare blankly and just nod. When i'm driving around I never get pulled over, I have once for no front plate other than that not once and I don't even have a spedometer that works. If I was driving down the road a civic's getting pulled over before I do.

Just ignore these grumpy "stay on the track" people. Let them say an think what they want, it's not like they can stop us. We're going to keep doing what we're doing and they're going to keep saying what they're saying. No one no matter who, is going to change my mind on anything that has to do with driving. So just ignore them. See you guys on Thursday.

we are not grumpy. we are smart and care about the image that drifting has and how its portrayed by the media and people who know nothing about it. retarded statements like that is whats ALWAYS going to hold it back because of your immaturity and stupidity.

when you get caught or crash, it makes all of us look bad. i cannot count how many potential sponsors have said to me this year "oh you drift, like that nick hogan kid?"

so grow the **** up, and have some god damned respect for other peoples property, and yourself.

and you will never be as good as the person who spent that much money on a track day because in your entire life of retarded 30mph parking lot "drifting" you wont get the experience 1 solid track day will provide.

fact.

Man, I'm not here to start anything. Just mind your own business. If something happens to us then we're the oes that are screwed not you. All this guy was asking for was some construtive critisism about the DRIFTING! Not whether it's legal or safe. We know what's at stake.

i am minding my own business because last time i checked i was a global moderator on this message board, so anything that happens on here is my business.

and you have missed my point, you think its just you that gets in trouble, or has to fix your car after you crash. but you dont get it.

why do you think 240's are being profiled by police more and more all across the country? take a WILD guess. its because so many idiot owners are being caught street drifting.

your actions have a direct consequence on other peoples lives. so GROW UP AND GO TO THE TRACK.

and you want some constructive criticism about the videos? 30mph parking lots wont teach you anything above the very absolute basics. theres no way to give legitimate criticism from an outside the car video at such a low speed in a parking lot with no marked course.

Dude , just stop. There has to be events in your area. You will have SOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun there. You wont have to be looking over your shoulder or worrying about the police at an event. Its ALL DAY FUN for everyone. And you can learn sooooooooo much more then you ever will in those tiny lots.

i know ill never stop people from street drifting. there will always be immature people like you who dont see the benefit from track driving, and thats fine, because until you do an actual large scale event on a track/skidpad you will NEVER realize how little you know about performance driving.

you are about an hour and a half from willow springs. there is an amateur drift event there at LEAST once a month. there is an event there this weekend. http://www.justdrift.com

dont sit there and tell us you dont go to events because there arent any. thats bull****.

im not at all against or for non track drifting....im just throwing out a helpful hint...

if you think its too expensive to go to teh track, then why waste money on tires in a parking lot when you say you dont have it or the track is too expensive...when you could simply save it for later use at a track, i know when alot of people that are interested in drifting see all the oppurtunities in a vacant lot, but why not just wait for a safe no hassle event?

do what you wish, its gonna happen regardless alot of people do it w/o a problem, some arent so lucky...hopefully youll be the earlier rather then later....

so if you do it again try to be as safe as you can while ya do it,id just rather see it on a safe track.

its also a lot cheaper driving on the track than getting your car impounded and a stack of tickets.
