I'm planning a low-budget trip to San Diego to take NICOmom and the NICOtots to the beach, July 21-24th (I need a friggin vacation).

Anyone in the area have some good hookups? I think I'll be staying at the Days Inn on Rosecrans if we don't find something cheaper, and I'd like to find something to do besides the beach for one of the days (remember, LOW budget). :)

2 years ago, we did Sea World and had a ball. But the kids seemed to enjoy the beach (Mission) more - We rented wetsuits and boogie boards and had an absolute blast. :D

p.s. It'd also be cool to meet up with some of the SoCal NICO peeps maybe for dinner one night!

The zoo is cool for the kids (and you), for you and the lady, the Gas Lamp district down town is really fun, lots of bars and restraunts. La Jolla is really fancy, like Beverly Hills by the sea. Theres also the "Old Town" area which can be fun for all. And me and the lady will most likely meet up with you for some grub.

If I'm around that weekend that would rock!

I've got a couple things I've volunteered for through the hospital that the dates have not been finalized on, and as long as the dates don't clash, count me in.

I've got a couple surfboards hanging around if someone wants to give it a shot. I'm not very good myslelf, but understand the basics. Also a size 8/10 child's wetsuit that may be too small for my kids now.

The zoo here is pretty cool, I saw it when I went to boot camp out here and keep meaning to go back.

I can get some pretty good deals through the military discounts if you want.

I get discount tickets to everything in SoCal. you could do a little trip north to Carlsbad (maybe 1 hour) and go to legoland for the NICOtots NICOmom would like to hang out on Coronado.. it's nice there. gaslamp district downtown and if you can, take the trolley to the border and spend a day in mexico shopping, sure you'll only see TJ but for $50 NICOmom can shop all day if she likes to haggle, and you can eat some good food for $10 for the family per meal.. plus.. Beer is sold EVERYWHERE.. even the shoe stores sell it. $1 Coronas everywhere you turn and you can sometimes walk around with it but they usually want the bottle to take to CA for CRV (recycling$)

hit me up if you want discount tix to the zoo, legoland, or whatever.. maybe the Wild Animal Park....

Everything is expensive here :(I would offer up some space, but I don't really have any room in my tiny 1000 sq ft apartment... there's already 4 people living here. :)As for entertainment, I like the Padres games. Petco is neat and they have a wiffle ball field beyond the outfield fence for the kids. Not really cheap, though if you do decide to go I advise taking the trolley instead of trying to find parking. There's not much parking available. Sounds like you have a good plan with Mission Bay though. I hear it's pretty good, though I've never gone being that I'm a lazy bum. I live right near La Jolla and it's real fancy (check out the Ferrari dealership there :drooling: ).Yeah... all you really need is the beach though and it'll be good times. That's not too expensive. Hope you have a subbessful trip, let me know if you need anything and I'll see if I can help out!

COOOL!

OK, so here's the deal - Dinner with anyone who wants to go out Friday night (is Friday OK?) Kids, spouses all welcome. NICOmom and I would love to meet you all. I can't wait!

gsxtasee, any chance the Skyline will be available to take NICOmom and a car-crazy 13-year-old for a ride? :)

I'll see if the midgets are interested in any of the attractions... NICOmom says "no thanks" on TJ - We've been to Nogales way too often, similar place...

Think we might go up to Kid's Cove near La Jolla for at least part of one of the days...

Vinny (and others) - It'd be great to hang with you guys at the beach, we're just gonna do some boogieboarding and play in the sand... Feel free to meet up with us!

Damn, just noticed the date. I am going to be in Reno for a friend's wedding on the 24th and I was planning to say hi to my parents the week before. Oh well, if that falls through I know I'll have the NICO crew to hang with down here in SD.

My skyline won't be back until it's done being legalized and Mwrex has no reason to touch it any more. so I doubt mine will be there but I have a few peeps that have 'em and I am certain I can get my friends' R32 GTST w/ RB26 swap out there at a minimum... but mine is _way_ faster and better looking (IMO).

I'll prolly just come down for the weekend with the GF as long as I'm not working that weekend.

My family (wife and 6 year old son) and I are going to be in San Diego on June 13th for a few days. Not near the end of July, unfortunately. Else, we would gladly meet up too!

Our trip is going to include Sea World and Legoland (in Carlsbad, about 35 miles north of San Diego). It ain't totally low budget, 'cause of the high cost of entries to these places and the hotels are not inexpensive, either! But, it should be a lot of fun, I hope.

A trip to Disneyland, or Six flags Magic Mountain would be a fun time, in my opinion. =]

True - But would definitely bust the budget...

Hotel was bad enough, I still gotta feed my crew and rent beach stuff... :(

I fly through Phoenix about once every two months on average - America West wants me to change planes there all the time! :D But 45 to 60 minute visits don't allow for much time to go outside the airport, though!

So far, none of our customers are in Phoenix, so I have not visited there in quite a few years (last visit was in 1992). But if we ever get somebody there that I should visit, I will stay longer and come by to say hello!
