A while back I lost the base to my TV (no idea where it went...). Since then, I've supported it upright with books and random stuff, but it usually falls over after a while.

Anyway, I took a stroll around Home Depot for inspiration on what to make a new TV base out of and I came up with the following...

Next up is making a coffee table out of old shocks and springs.

I think the real question is what the hell happened to the base? How do you lose one of those?

My job is 100% travel and sometimes I take my TV and PS3 with me. I assume the base must have fallen off in a rental car or something.

Ah, that explains it. The new one is at least 57% more badass, so all in all I'd say its an upgrade.

That's awesome. I like how it came with a scratch guard to protect your table.

Honestly, it took longer to think up. I wandered Home Depot for quite some time and nothing came to mind. I already had the brackets in hand as I had the mounting spot on the TV measured out already, but they didn't have any decent bases to bolt the brackets on. I bought the saw blade as kind of a joke at first, thinking that I wouldn't be able to drill through it well with the bits I had, and I was right, but my shop has titanium bits that chew through metal like it's chili cheese fritos. So six drill holes later I was bolting the brackets on and driving home to slap the tv on it.

I never thought of it that way, but you have a point =) I left the guard on there because my cat loves to run everywhere and rub on everything, so I dont want her jacking her feet up.

Nice!! How do you like Insignia? I've heard mixed reviews so I got a 27" for Christmas but never had any problems out it.
