is it also your first day?

i walked out for lunch to see this in our lot. apparently, it's the second time this happened today. this last time required the removal of the cab door so the operator could get out. they're waiting on a wrecker of sorts in order to get it out, i guess the first time wasn't as bad. but i pointed and lol'd, they didn't seem to appreciate that, but dammit it's funny.

Nope, definitely lol-worthy. If they don't like it, they shouldn't launch the backhoe into a ditch. Simple solution.

If it was KA24 powered it would have enough torque to get out.

If they got themselves a Korean backhoe driver he'd be able to get out of that hole with out a wrecker. When I was stationed over there I saw them do some crazy isht, like put a full size backhoe into the back of a bongo truck without using ramps. For those of you who don't know what a bongo truck is it's one of these...

if it ended up in there again, i'd walk out to point and laugh. not that i could do better, but they're trained to not fall into voids.

The operator has torn up the asphalt around where the bucket is resting trying to lift the lift the body up by lowering the arm. He must be wedged in pretty good. Smaller backhoes could easily get out of the same situation on their own. The whole crew is a bunch of dumb arses for letting it happen twice,

From this picture it appears that they are straddling the ditch to dig it.

I can understand how they keep falling in as there is a curve.

as long as it all gets fixed, my bosses don't care. they spent a good amount of time yesterday watching it all happen on the surveillance cameras and laughing.

they were straddling it. but they should have known it wasn't a good idea. the property is all wetlands. under that asphalt is sand, dirt, and water. that edge wasn't going to support that weight. currently, it's off to the side, on top of a pile of dirt, right about where the claw is. a much better option.

I hope for your sake the operator finds a way to fall back into the ditch today. That would be ideal.
