i was watching this show on TV and this guy plugged in some kind of programmer into the OBDII port and he refdlashed his ecu rightr there without sending it off or anything...also he gets to play around with other settings....he gets to modify the speedo for diff tire sizes, raise the rev limiter....it even had different stages and a gas saving mode...he paid like $600 for it and got 40 whp increase on a dyno....so my question is how come no one makes these for our cars....it seems such a better idea then sending it to TS or uprev and have them keep your ecu for a few days........anyway is there anyway we can like have someone make these fo rour cars...i'll be more than happy to get sentra SE-R power with my car w/o having to have my ecu sent off

My brother has this for his F350. It has economy, towing, and performance modes, along with the ability to modify tire size etc, very useful.

From a hacking standpoint:

My guess would be that Nissan has some aggressive encryption on their chips, and no one has been able to flash them. I think Blake mentioned that the only time anyone has modded recent altima chips is when a piggyback is installed. That would make it a hardware hack as opposed to software which you're talking about, and explain why you have to send it out for the fix.

With anything, if there is enough interest it can be done, just a matter of cost. That would be awesome though.

Something about nissan has 6 inputs to the ecu and most cars have only 2 air and fuel? Some house tech was trying to say why it was difficult to program ANY new Nissan (I wasn't really listening I was staring at the Sales Manager's butt, wowza!)...they can do a timing advance and A/F stuff with a consult II which was sort of helpful for the Titan V8

when i was getting my exhaust done, the guy was telling me about a local shop that could tune pretty much any new car. he said the shop would be able to tune mine, so after i get my intake i'm going to go check it out
