Besides which, my original post did not contain a limitation on only referring to Ivory Coast. It was generic to civilians being protected or not and the US and UN arbitrariness on which should be "protected" and which not.

Sure. And we've had the discussion as to why the UN can't be everything to everyone everywhere. It's got a security council that has to agree. Continuing to harp on it only makes you look childish.

So, you think I should censor myself when I am pointing out that people are being tortured and killed by "US ally"? And the US and UN do not do anything at all about it?

Never!

I am not going to change my principles for what I believe is right.

No, I think it's fine to point things like that out, and irresponsible not to. Which is why I never said you should censor yourself.

What's childish is continuing to harp on it as a criticism of selective UN intervention. That issue has been raised and addressed, and all you're accomplishing by being obnoxiously passively aggressive is the feat of turning yourself into someone obnoxious.

Ah, I see. I am being passive aggressive in raising valid criticisms of policies that I believe are morally wrong?

Well, I would much rather keep these issues on the fore-front and actively discuss them than sweep them under the rug and forget about them.

You can choose to differ, but passive "oh, well, the UN will do whatever it wants" is not acceptable to me. And, if that means I am being obnoxious ... tough cookies! :chuckle:

You have simultaneously mischaracterized my criticism of your behavior and my arguments about the UN.

I make the former (quite well).

Bex makes the latter (from scratch) easily as well as my great-aunt (who spent 82 years of her life in the homeland).
