Like the title says, I'm trying to figure out which coilovers are the right ones for what my goals are. I've spent the last couple days going through threads pertaining to coilovers, reviews of KTS, Stance, Megans, etc, etc., what to spend, where to buy and so on. What was never really answered for me though was what do I really need?

I'm building my 240 to be good on an auto-x course, roadcourse and generally a bitchin' hard parker. I could give a rat's *** about setting it up for drift or drag race. It will see a roadcourse realistically two or three times a year and auto-x six times a year if I'm lucky. The rest of the time it will be driven on the street, but is NOT a daily driver. I have a Hummer H3 for that task.

So, to that end I would ask; for what reason should I spend more than what Megan 8/6's cost? There was a big discussion a while back on spring rates and why stiffer is not better on anything but a full-blown race car, so that rules out the Megan Track model. I know the more expensive coilovers are made from better materials and have more "bells and whistles", but for my purposes do I need all of that?

While considering all of this, keep in mind that I need to drop coin on some badass brakes (Wilwood is at the top of that list), a front-mount and some new tires. I'll also need to do poly bushings all the way around, sways, RUCAs, tension rods and the list goes on.

That's basically it. Now, first person to tell me to "search" gets the banstick. Thoughts?

Since you've been reading about them, I'm sure you've read my opinions on the KTS. I love them, and I daily drive my car. They perform great on and off the track with a little adjustment to the dampening. I don't know the specs on the Megans since they weren't out when I was looking to buy coilovers, but dampeners are more important than the springs themselves. Compare piston size, adjustment, and orientation (inverted in front). For the lower end of coilovers, these are the things that will make the real difference. Remember, 97 way adjustable is not necessarily better than 8 way, read reviews to see how effective the adjustments actually are.
