Been busy w/ school, work, life, etc just like everyone else. I've still been maintaining the vert, in fact, it's going to have some major surgery over the next few months to prep for the 2010 season of autox.
In the mean time, I've been enjoying life - picked up a new daily driver over summer & took it to autox this past weekend. Suddenly the 240sx convertible doesn't feel so luxurious anymore, lol.
Some pics of the new car @ autox:
First run (traction control on & top up)
Getting ready in pre-grid
"What is up w/ his helmet?"
And some in car vids:
Saturday Practice in SL:1st run of day (78.xxx): YouTube - SL500 AutoX Practice - AAA Speedway - 2009-09-26 - run 01
By 10th run (74.910): YouTube - SL500 AutoX Practice 2009 09 26 run 10
Sunday Championship in 240sx (course run backwards w/ some small modifications - estimated to be about 1.5-2 seconds faster than Saturday's course):Run #2 (fastest run): YouTube - 240sx AutoX Championship - AAA Speedway - 2009 09 27
Lastly, slo mo video of the 240 for fun: QV slo mo 240sx on Vimeo
It behaved just as I expected: like a boat & has a very hard time with quick transitions while trying to apply power. That being said, it was still very fun to drive & can be made into an even more fun & competitive vehicle with stickier tires, new shocks, and some other minor mods. There is definitely a place for it on the road racing side of things - this car pulls very hard & nice.
The first run, I decided to run w/ traction control on & the top up just to get a feel for how the car behaves. The traction control cut off way too much power. All subsequent runs were top down & traction control off, of course.
Once it was off, car control was much better & the car would kick out the rear w/ enough power applied coming out of corners (reminded me of the drifting video another user posted on here - definitely has potential for that) but it also pushes a lot coming into turns since there is so much weight & momentum.
