First off you would have to repond to the recall, secondly are you in receipt of a recall, as it seems at least in Canad the recall is not addressed as a recall because as Infiniti Canada said to me "Nothing will be sent to you about a recall".
So if you do not respond there is no recall. But that said the rest of the world at least NA, understands that Pathfinders and QX4's are a rust bucket. Just like in the days of Datsun. The value of an older 97 anything is not in the money it can get on a resell but in the money saved from spending on yet another depreciating machine.
Is it worth more or less if that rust bucket is rust proofed? Yes and no, and that reponse is aimed at you the owner and you as a new buyer of that rust proofed vehicle. A 14 year old undercoated 4 x4 has a value and that value is whatever a reasonable person will actually spend. This is by no means dependent on Kelly, Black or Blue book, because a 14 year old vehicle is out of range of the book values.
You can keep that older vehicle, repair it until the repairs don't work because the body and /or frame is no longer there. You can sell it for what ever, but trade in value is nothing, a $1000 on a $40,000 offer is nothing.
So in the end you have an older vehicle that you work on and keep up, even the insurance company will offer you nothing for it in a right off, no matter what you spend to keep it pristine.
We have to face reality and the fact is Nissan made errors in the vehicle and those errors limit the lifespan of the vehicle.
Will they as manufacturers back the vehicle up, pay for the perceived loss of use and working life reduction? From their reaction and feet dragging only if further sales are in jeopardy because people see what they are attempting and these people can decide whether to support this kind of response. As is said through out the word, money talks, s*** walks.
