"WHAAAT? BUT THIS CAR IS MADE FOR DRIFTING, THATS WHAT NISSAN DESIGNED IT FOR, WHY WOULD YOU EVER WANT TO BE A ROAD RACER"
thats about it
people ask me why i dont like it, i say why should i?

"bah drifting is gay, its not racing and its judged like figure skating"
till 2 things happened. 1) i rode with a very good friend who is abso****inglutley amazing. probably one of the best amatuers in the US, and i saw how hard it is and what it requires. and 2) i tried it.
the "scene" that follows drifting is RETARDED. the posers are annoying and stupid, i cant stand them. i honestly cant stand alot of the spectators too. leave me the **** alone, dont touch my car, dont look at my engine, stay away from my tools. no you cant have a ride and im not telling you what modifications i have.
the REAL drivers are some of the coolest people ive ever met. its kinda funny, the "real" drifters hate the drifting scene just as much as the people who dont drift hate it.
there is also a big difference between professional drifting and just doing it. the "judged" bull**** is just that, bull****. i drift because its fun. i dont want to go pro, i dont ever plan to be sponsored. i have a blast doing it. theres no adrenaline rush like taking a corner at 80mph sideways at the absolute edge of control.
road racing will always be a huge love of my life, i HPDE just as much as i drift but lets be realistic here, for a spectator drifting is a hell of alot more exciting.
if you come at me in an adult manner and ask to see my car i have NO problems showing it off, im very proud of my car and my work.vroom-chirp wrote: ok now thats one thing to hate the people who get all wierd about drifting in general, but why would you get mad if someone wants to see your work that you have done to your engine. The phrase "pop the hood" has been around for a while, and just because its a 240 doesnt mean they wanna see what kind of "drift mods" you have. i sometimes see a tricked car and talk to the owner, so i can see how well they have their car set up in general. As an enthusiast, i like seeing a car thats been modified, plus i like to learn. i just dont understand why some people get mad when asked to see their work.
I guess you have never been to a drift event then... it get's anoying when for the 20th time some guy who does not even know how an engine works starts asking you questions about your "modz"vroom-chirp wrote: ok now thats one thing to hate the people who get all wierd about drifting in general, but why would you get mad if someone wants to see your work that you have done to your engine. dude, at least 70%....w1ngzer0 wrote:Kamin: What you just explaned is 1/2 the folks on az240sx.
the only people who talk about(or care about) drifting on az240 are the little group who regularly do it, and a few noobs who immidiatly get flamed for being posers.Kamin wrote:dude, at least 70%....
im sorry i should have added some sarcastic remark at the end of my statmentskillet wrote:the only people who talk about(or care about) drifting on az240 are the little group who regularly do it, and a few noobs who immidiatly get flamed for being posers.
i vouch for Allen's word, I've been attending many drift events in Houston area in the past year and all i can say is that the sport is growing a lot within a past year with positive feed back/turn out. I befriended w/ many enthusiast in the area and like allen said, they're down to earth and are fun to be around.crzycav86 wrote:Drifting is fun, just like many other motorsports.
I fear there is a lot of speculation going on in this thread too regarding drifters. I've met my fair share of posers in the whole drifting/240sx scene.. but the number of real, down-to-earth drifters and fans have always been the vast majority. My reasoning is because posers don't last. They don't have fun because the majority will shun them, and eventually they fade out. That has not been my experience. Some of you make it seem like posers are taking over. Again, this has not been my experience- in houston at least. Maybe it's possible that we have different definitions of what makes a poser...?
Also, I'm not pointing anyone out, but don't judge people based on what you perceive on a message board.
