So what changed in the 2009 & 2010 Ex ?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

It has been awhile. Came on to read about using the snow button.Read through the thread and still am not 100% sure, but I will re-read.

I saw some 2010 pictures and was wondering what did they change for the 2009 and 2010 models.

Just wondering if they improved anything since 2008?

Thanks, you Guys are the best.

They added a few features to the nav system. And an ION filter to the AC. I saw a new FX and the screen was really nice, not sure if the 2010 EX has the same thing, or if its just new graphics. I got a 09 but if the screen is much cooler wish I got a 2010 Anyone have pics of theirs??

A few months ago my dealer got our first '10 EX in. Here are a few pics from the new Nav software. zer...dates The Snow mode locks the transfer case in a 50/50 split until 12mph then it releases it.

The ACCS (Advanced Climate Control System) as part of the Tech package on many of the new 2010 models. The ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control) now also has a zero speed option that allows it to maintain distance control at slow speeds, ie in traffic.

Oh and the seat heater buttons are now 6 positions and is a silver rotary knob.

I would suspect the '11 model might have the blue/white gauges the new G has.

Is this the way it works now, cause it used to work a different way, before >>> zerothread?id=467197

Hey looks like someone did all the explaining I wasn't feelin today.

There is no mechanical link going on although it alters the software to accommodate foul driving conditions. This is not a 4wd by definition.

So you said what you did, so that you didn't have to explain it correctly?

I've always felt that the AWD-EX35... has a Part-time AWD system.

it is part time. regardless of AWD or RWD models you will notice brake fade greater on the rear wheels vs front.

would it have been nice to constantly have 4WD like in the GT-R? probably, my mother just bought an S5 for herself and i have to admit quattro is very very....NICE

but in our EX35, no, it's not full AWD, hell it's not even really part-time AWD, it's literally i-WD, intelligent wheel drive where more power is divided towards areas of greater slippage.

Sorry if that sounded asinine and douchey I had a few beers and that really didn't sound that bad the first time I read it. My apologies. What I meant to say was something along the lines of someone already doing the research work of going through the FSM and owners manual to properly describe a given topic.

I remember awhile back there was a discussion about the over drive vibration in some 08 EXs and I remember posting some AWD live data, I will see if I can find that. The torque transfer rate is constantly changing. The system has several complex inputs but one single output and that is regulated to a current controlled solenoid with a variable clutch. Even at a constant speed something like a slight change of the wheel will cause a change in the coupler current of anywhere from 0.2A to 1.0A depending on wheel speed input, throttle angle, engine load and many other signals. When the snow switch is engaged it initiates a secondary program that alters the takeoff current. Normally the EX takes off as a rwd vehicle. The book as usual takes a very long time to say a few basic things.

It is definetly not a part time system it is active all the.

Is that not a good thing?

Many other vehicles offer a direct split, one of the advantages to the EX is that it actually uses a primarily rwd intelligent split system.

It is actually the same system as the GTRhttp://en.wakopedia.org/wiki/ATTESA

oo i did not realize ATTESSA is the same as i-AWD; that's my bad

to be honest, i think this is pretty gimmicky. because they market it as, "the ability to enjoy RWD fun with the "safety" of AWD available"

in reality, it's not even that AWD is all that much safer, it just has some minor advantages. Truth is ur tires play a major major role. (granted i mean like light - medium snow) - when it comes to heavy snow ~ well, sorry but the EX doesnt fulfill that category either.

i enjoy Audi Quattro as a driving experience, and SH-AWD in the Acura...just seems so rough.

to be fair i think i-AWD has a place in the automotive industry, but not in the segment of midrange power. I see it's utility in a fully prepped race car with more advanced capabilities for ECU programming etc etc, but in the everyday sense, with a production level ECU, there are too many variables for ATTESSA to really be something we can say, OOOO it really helps, or I've really benefited from this system.

The best example i could use would be on a sharp turn onto a road that has an incline. Let's say for the ease/benefit of practice you want to turn in hard, and power through it. Unfortunately with the height gradient, eventhough RWD would make it very fun, i-AWD kicks in ~ regardless if VDC is on, i've tried it, the car kinda has a pseudo limp mode mid turn.

so if this were to happen in a G37x then it would take alot of the fun out of it. Granted, on the flip side, in everyday scenarios, when i'm NOT rushing or "having fun", sure it's a gimmick i can appreciate because it does add somewhat of a stable track for the car, though the limp mode is kinda off-setting and scary.

if i were in the south, i would've opte for the RWD EX for sure,

i wonder how the ECU is programmed for ATTESSA to work in the GT-R then...hmm reading to do on somethign i will never get to..lol
