It's just a G. A little V6 tinymobile with barely enough rear seat space for a midget clown without his shoes on. It's not a big V8 musclecruiser.

It actually looks okay. It's not NEARLY as flamboyant as I expected it to be. Still definitely flamboyant, but tame by modern standards. It looks vastly better from the rear, though the front has its appeal.

I don't like the bulge in the line under the side mirror. It's an echo of the weirda$$ nonsense going on on the terrible-looking Essence concept. It does nothing worthwhile and draws the eye in a weird way to the wrong parts of the car.

I have mixed feelings on the line coming forward off the rear wheel arches. It's somewhat muscular, but it also clashes with the other horizontal lines that come back from the nose across the doors. The new headlights look nice (certainly nicer than the boomerangs it could have ended up with). And the grille could grow on me.

I don't know what's going on with the chrome behind the rear windows, but that crap needs to GO.

It's still a G, which means it's still two cylinders and a LOT of interior space short of anything that'll ever interest me. But it's not bad.

I like it, definately the front end. Looks like a good candidate for a vr38dett swap...

Long nose is definitely a good thing. Actual space between the front wheel arch and front door! On a modern car!

I remember the ads from 2001 for "The New Q"

Now it's going to be 8 different ads for 8 different "New Q"s

I like everything but the C-pillar non-sense and the new craze of flat sided rear bumpers forcing a horrible looking extra line falling off the bottom of the taillamp. The rest looks sleek. The line under the door mirrors is the straightest I have seen Nissan been able to draw after years of body lines looking like the paper slipped as the artist was drawing. I can also appreciate that it doesn't have extreme 'miter box' fender lips. A noble effort.

Chris, the flagship remains to be revealed.

I like it... and the parts I *don't* like are, unfortunately, beyond the designers' control. Screw the FMVSS and the NHTSA.

Are those safety standards/laws the reason why all modern cars have those flat edges to the fenders? Or is that a trend?
I've no idea what those are about.

Man- those are horrendous. If anything, its probably a cost of production 'solution.' Easier to press the fender that way.

I do like how it looks though. There are some things that I dont like, but they might be over looked after I see it on the road regularly.

I thought the front end was Lexus like as well.

It's gonna be interesting to see what the Q80 looks like & does.

I don't see the resemblance to the IS OR to the XF. The IS is very wedge-shaped (and silly-looking for it) and pontiac-like, with a low nose and faux-pillarless doors. The G...er...Q50 is a pretty traditional 3-box. Meanwhile the XF is nothing like it, either; clean and round, not flamboyant and creased like the QG3750.

I like it as well. I like it A LOT MORE than I thought I would after the last few Infiniti designs and concepts. It's much closer to a little M (which I like quite a lot) than I expected it to be.

I realize the flagship is yet to be revealed. But the name Q50 strikes a chord with oldschool Q fans. I remember 6 years ago and before, we were wondering what would happen with the "new Q," and Q50 and Q56 were terms that got thrown around a lot. We got our Q50, but it's not a Q. Which is fine (or not). I'm not even continuing the criticism of the new naming scheme. It's just funny that we finally got a Q50 despite it being a very different car.

I WOULD BE excited to see what the Q80 will bring, but with Infiniti having their panties in a wad and abandoning V8s forever, I can't be arsed to give a damn.

Very raptor-like...

I'm glad they didn't go "full-Lexus". The front of the new IS-whatever-the-hell-number looks like a bad rendition of Predator. Lame.

Amen to that. Lexus is trying too hard to compensate for decades of building bland trash.

Nope. Not seeing it. Sure the grilles are the same shape, but the rest is completely different. The IS is a wedge, with triangular headlights. The G is a block, with entirely differently-shaped headlights. They're no more similar than any two cars with two headlights and a grille.

I've honestly always found the IS pretty unpleasant looking. Sedan shape trying to cram itself into wannabe coupe proportions. Neither fits. It's like stuffing a self-inflating life preserver inside a sock and then pulling the release. It's also FAR too wedge-shaped for a sedan. The arse end is fifty feet high but the nose could take out my ankles. It just looks goofy. Then there are those terrible tail lights on the first-gen (which are ANYTHING and possibly even EVERYTHING except classy).

But the IS's mechanicals have always been pretty decent. From the 2JZ and manual in the early models to the 2GR or 4GR with a 6 speed manual in the 2nd gen. Of course, you pay far too much for the car that's wrapped around those mechanicals, but they're still decent.

A previous gen IS-F looks great. The new one is trying to adopt the new design language obviously, but it is too... forced.

I do like the new GS. Edgy. Something that looks sporty at least. I wonder how it drives.

When I think "Edgy" I think high school kid with spiked leather bracelets, spiked hair, eyeliner, and chains on his pants. "Edgy" under my personal thesaurus is a synonym for "Trying WAY too damn hard and still failing" and "Any attention is good attention." I don't want Edgy. I want well-realized.

I liked the last-gen GS because it was completely un-lexus. Clean, sleek, with nice proportions and sharp details. Of course, it was a carbon copy of the contemporary Maxima, so it wasn't doing anything interesting either. The new GS looks like a mess, just like the rest of the lineup. Lexus, like Acura, seems to think that barbed wire and tribal tattoos are acceptable inspiration for automobile styling. They are mistaken.

The headlights and nose look TERRIBLE from the side.

Image

What the CRAP is going on there? Why are the headlights recessed so far back? And why is the Audi-wannabe LED strip seventy feet in front of the headlights?

And it STILL has no more rear legroom than a Scion iQ! I know because I've (failed) to sit in the back of both.

Also, what the @#$% is going on with that rocker panel?

The whole car is a mess. By comparison, even the most questionably-styled Infiniti looks positively gorgeous.

Oh, and does anyone else see Mitsubishi Lancer in the rear? WAY TO FAIL, Lexus. Copy the styling of the cheapest cheap@ss cheapmobile in cheapland. Definitely luxury brand material.
