So the antenna mast is IMPOSSIBLE to remove

I've all but destroyed the antenna setup on my car trying to get the f'n old one out. My motor works so I was just going to replace the mast.

Trying to turn what is suppose to be the top retaining nut - appears to turn with a bit of force but its like its turning shiat on the inside.

SO angry. I feel like ripping it out and covering over the hole.

The top retaining nut has 2 small like hole on top, and I mean pin holes. I tried to push a very thin screwdriver down the holes to see if I hear something click etc....nothing...

Within the next day that whole system is getting removed if someone can't guide me in the right direction.

use some needle nose pliers (will mess it up) or use a robogrip on the top ring. It unscrews from the plastic base. I had to make a cut down the side to get the old antenna base off. I suspect rust has probably had it's way with the threads on the inside as well.

So if it unscrews from the plastic base, I should have something to hold the plastic while I turn the top nut.

Very close to yanking that AND the rear wiper and plugging them with a grommet/plug for now.

Do it.. all that crap is annoying... get rid of it.

Tried my damnedest to hold the plastic perch while turning the nut - it must be fused together. Its coming out.

That and the wiper.

Yeah, good luck getting it apart without destroying it.

Mine didnt work, so I sawed the antenna off. and beat it through the hole in the fender and pulled it out. Capped the hole with a rubber plug thing, and some silicone sealant.

hell i did the same, i couldn't get it to go down..so i just cut it off to the rubber base.. <still gets full signal : )

Nissan techs get special little wrench. Snap on sells it. Made to fit around the antenna and fit into the little grooves.s
