i havent been on this forum for a while because i have lost interest in my car (not altima's, but my car) because of my clutch issue. Those who remember my threads about this will be amazed

to keep things short, clutch problem and wheel bearing issue (dealership made lies saying they replaced parts, which they did not), went thru CAMVAP a canadian arbitration thing. Now nissan is settling the case by giving me a FULL BUYBACK before Camvap calls the buy back, because if camvap does the buyback call, it will be in the record for consumers too see.

Now i get a full refund, the value of my car is 39600 off the lot, but i only put 20grand down and payed 1 year of payments. I lose about 502 bucks for interest, but i get the rest back :D

So i guess all the trouble was worth it in the end, i got to drive the altima for a year for a cost of 502$

*ps - calgary coupe owners if your interested in a Fujita Intake, email me :D

I totally forget what car you had...refresh?

That's pretty darn sweet though. In the US, this would have been covered by the lemon law, and it likely wouldn't have taken a year to complete. But hey, $500 for a year long rental is pretty sick!

Now the question is what do you get next

i wouldnt mind getting another nissan, but the 2 dealerships with reasonable driving distance is total garbage

and that means if i get a new nissan, any services or problems i have to take to the third closest (around 30km drive!)

with the money i get back i could either go cheapo and get a Rsx Type, or a second hand G

i have 2 weeks to find a new car because i have to return the vehicle then

Dude I would say just get a CVT and call it a day. Then you don't have to worry about clutch problems.

hey man im really happy for you! God i wish i could say the same though..so did camvap make nissan buy it back solely on the basis of the clutch issues? Ive had and still continue to encounter issues with my car but its nothing mechanical really thats hindering the driveability of the car..you think camvap will help me? Im really happy for you man i thought that being in canada w/out any clear cut lemon laws we'd be screwed. You've given me hope! I've been seriously considering trading my A/C in for 2002 BMW M Coupe....my true love....

UPDATE:

Just bought a 06 Rx-8 Red with Red/black leather interior!very fun car to drive, cant believe how big of a difference it is compared to the altima. If youve never driven a rx8, u gotta try it

ive never owned a RWD but i think il enjoy it more then a front wheel car, the rx8 rides lower with really nice sporty seats (lovin it), and short shifter and the high RPM turns me :D

il miss my altima (still in my garage) but its not my fault im abandoning her, its the problem/issues that is forcing me to leave her (not buying another nissan becasue of the dealerships around here)

Well il post some pictures when i get the Rx8, its still at the dealership getting cleaned up

Congrats on the RX8, but let me let you in on some factors behind the RX8, especially since you are already coming from a hoard of problems from the A/C just like myself (BTW you never got back to me about CAMVAP), so anyways about the RX8 - my cousin had one on lease for about 3 years and yes, awesome car, go-kart handling, great looks, everything was cool, then winter hit and the god damn thing wouldn't start. There is a distinct problem with the spark plugs getting soaked with engine oil and thus not igniting. The damned problem was because if you say started the car and moved it without giving it some time to warm up, it would not start up again. This happened a few times and the dealership had to send a flatbed to tow it back to the dealership. You would think it would be covered under warranty, which is was the first couple of times, after that it cost them $500 to fix everytime. I'm sure it includes labour and new spark plugs. But just a word of warning, hope you don't run into the same issues. The ****ty thing with the rotary engine is that the spark plugs are located at the bottom of the engine as well, I believe there are two at the top, two at the bottom or some stupid thing like that.

Anyways, good luck. And let me know what you had to do to go through camvap. I'm sick of the BS my A/C is putting me through. Thanks, hope you'll return the favor.

a rx8 MT vs an altima 3.5SE 6MT would be a VERY close match. the altima does 5.8 in the best possible conditions and the rx8 does 5.9sec in best traction.

but against the automatic version of one car each manual of the other would be faster

but in the twisties the rx8 would destroy the altima

thanks for the input guys, i actually cant believe i never looked into the rx8 before buying the altima. Price was good, and the drive is unbelievable. As for problems noted, i know the rx8 floods and its a pain to undo, but not as bad as you think (unless you happen to have the fault"ier" engine and usually happens to the 04 rx8's)

Addidas, id hate to let the altima go, but the problems have really got to the point even nissan is willing to buy it back... and mazda is not ford lol ford just happens to have huge amounts of shares, and my rx8 has more jdm parts then the altima , the altimas are for N/A only, and was manufactured in the states (maybe thats why theres so many issues lol)

And chinaman, whats your email il msg you about the intake

Ford has built mazda products for years. The ford ranger (mazda b series), ford explorer (mazda navajo), ford taurus (mazda mellinia), ford escape (mazda tribute), and ford focus (mazda axela). Just the name some off the top of my head. When your RX-8 was produced, ford owned over 50% of that company. Ford design went into that car, whether you would like to believe it or not. Good luck with the rx-8, and I wish you the best, but you should have kept it in the family bro

hey im still in the family... to be honest, if the car didnt have these issues id love to stick with it. But the dealerships and car problems i faced, were not ur average "stealership" garbage. Also now that the economy is goin down, id rather save up some cash for other things therefore i downgraded to a second hand rx8...

i know il miss my alti, im still driving it right now since i have another week or so before returning it to the dealer (ripping up the streets LOL)

il still be creepin on these forums while i cruise the ford haha, i mite get a second hand altima if hte price is good :D

yup, until you find out when you loose control of the rear end, its over No under steer like fwd where you can just let off the gas and get grip again. Be careful. They are easy to wreck. Thinking an RX-8 is a race car, and driving it like so, will undoubtedly put you in a ditch, fast.

Hahahaha, youre crazy. That AWD Twin Turbo monster BMW would obliterate your rx8

damn rx8s are soo nice, only thing that kept me from buying it was the underpowered rotary engine, but I swear that car was my first love lol.

if they had made an awd 300hp rx8 i would have bought that

i dono tho, 300hp awd on a 1.3 engine seems too extreme, but non the less would be cool

the thing that i dont like about the rx8 is the flooding of the engine, and starting up the car is never as great as the altima since the engine has to rev up alot higher to start
