so today i finally replaced the alternator and the car was running pretty good, no problems, anyhow. when i got home the car started smoking like crazy and when i opened the hood boom, a little flame was there, i put it out, waited for the car to cool and went to see it again... there was no sign of a fire there, nothing... nada. so i started the car again to pull it in my driveway and keep checking while running and i start getting the smell of gas... :wtf2:

this is the pic: Image it was on the driver side all the way on the back, in fact it did not seem like it was the engine. it was more towards the fire wall

so my question is, there is a fuel line around there? i imagine it could have been leaking and the warmth of the engine set it on fire. or somewhere around there?

any help would be appreciate it :/

Where you did the circle is where the fuel lines are. The silver canister that has the going in one end and out the other is a fuel filter. The rubber hose directly next to it is the return fuel line. Follow those lines, all of that trail are the fuel line. I would replace all the lines, you do not want another fire, could be devastating next time.

definetely not :/ the fire was at the bottom tho, not the top fuel lines are there right? i think they go down there, just around where the fire was.

here is an imgur album of where the fire was, like i said weird thing is, there's no sign of fire  the fire was at the botom by the way like mentioned:

You must have put the fire out before it had a chance to do any real damage. Whatever it was must have been burning off and not actually burning the car yet.

It could be any of the fuel lines, but brake fluid is also flammable and the master cylinder is sitting right there too. Not sure what got hot enough to cause any of it to ignite though, unless maybe something sparked?
