I'm getting pretty sick and tired of my mouse because the ball underneath is always acting stupid . I'm so close to yanking my mouse out and breaking it with a sledgehammer . I clean it properly, I clean the mousepad...I do whatever it takes to make it run smooth but nothing! Nothing works anymore...

So with that said, let's hear what kinda mouse you're using or what you'd recommend.

Oh yeah, I was looking at Logitech's Trackball mice. Any thoughts on those?

No problemo. I don't think you can go wrong with any optical mice though. I am using a generic dell one and I am happy as can be compared to my old mouse with the ball. I don't think you need something crazy wicked unless you play alot of computer games, like first person shooters.

I hate cordless. The one I had seemed to burn through batteries like noone's business. I think that was a logitech.

Didn't it have a charger that you could use when power was low?

Nope. I am guessing I had a cheap one then.

Do they have any cordless mice that plug into the USB when they are running low? That would be sweet. You can charge it while still using it and not have to deal with gay batteries.

Maybe this is what you were referring to when you mentioned the charger?

IDK I never heard of a mouse with that capability. That would be neat though.

The mouse that I used had a jack that you put the mouse in when it needed recharging. It's similar to the ones certain cordless phones use.

I use a Microsoft wireless mouse (the Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0) and am very pleased with it. Uses a single AA battery and I replace it about every 3 to 4 months - not bad at all. The receiver plugs into a USB port.

Also have a wireless keyboard, that feeds the same receiver as the mouse, so that my desk is not cluttered with cables for these items. Now, I have to get a wireless headset and then I will not have any cables on top here!

this is what i have on my home PC, which is basically a high powered gaming rig.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...85993Really nice laser gaming mouse.

i use this mouse for my laptop. Wireless mouse with usb plug.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ol...29317when i got mine it was on sale for like $25....

It all comes down to personal opinion but i like my laser gaming mouse the best. It has buttons on the side that go forward/back in a web browser. A button that switches apps without having to minimize stuff, and for gaming i can program 5 different sensitivities into it.

The mouse for my laptop works fine, sensitivity is fine. standard 3 button, mouse wheel setup. Also i've never replaced the batteries in this thing, and i've had it over 6 months. And i used my laptop around 10 hours a week for college. So at least 150 hours... and the logitech program still reports the battery as good.

I was in Best Buy today and saw a wireless one. IIRC, it was made by Microsoft...cost like $30.

I've been using Logitech for years too. I have a lx7(i think) wireless mouse, and I just replaced the batteries this week for the first time since the beginning of January when I got it new. You can also turn the mouse off when not in use to extend the battery life.

So I vote for anything Logitech.

I like the Microsoft mice too ... good for general purpose work, although I do use the Wireless ones to minimize wires on top of my desk!

Little nitpick:That's an optical mouse, but not a laser mouse.

I also use the MX518 and am VERY VERY happy with it. It is extremely comfortable and the button layout is absolutely perfect.

Logitech also updated it's G5 laser mouse a while back. It is a laser mouse with ergonomics and button layout similar to the MX 518, but it also has tilt-wheel. The G5 also has customizable weight using small weight cartridges...

If I were to buy a new mouse today I'd get the G5. But the MX518 is good enough that I have no desire to trade it for the G5 at the moment.

If it's not too late, I suggest the Logitech Mx 518. Corded, but wireless is way over rated. Use setpoint, and then get Uberoptions, and you can program all the buttons to do whatever you want. 1600 dpi which is adjustable from 200 dpi, most ball mice are 2-400 dpi. I got it for gaming, but damn did I fall in love with it...

I ended up getting the Logitech Trackman Wheel. I'm gonna try it out for a bit to see how I like it. It'll take some getting used to but it doesn't seem so bad so far.

EW haha, They're ok, my buddy used one for Delta Force, I couldn't get down on it though. I could probably rock it if it had the adjustable resolution like my current mouse. Oh, and uber options will work with the track man too. Check it out, it's a great add on to the setpoint software.

Logi has a new top-end mouse coming out in a week or so.

It's the first mouse from them since the MX518 that's made me want to upgrade. First time it does EVERYTHING my MX518 does and more. I'll be picking one up as soon as they're in stores.

It's the G9. Wired, 200-3200 dpi (holy carp!), switchable "Microgear" scroll wheel ("frictionless" mode can be disabled unlike previous microgear scroll wheels). It has the old G5's adjustable weight cartridge system. It will also have changeable grips, two that come with it and more later.

And unlike the old G5 (not the later one) it has two thumb buttons instead of just one.

Only downside is the price tag: $99. If it lasts as long as my MX518, though, it'll be more than worth it.

It's ergonomics and looks are definitely atypical for Logitech, but I expect it to be very comfortable to hold.

If you want a wireless mouse, I would recommend the Logitech VX or MX revolution. Ergonomic, great battery life (1 AA will last 4 months) and the usb dongle thing can be stored in the mouse itself.

Logitech mice are the best choice for pretty much everything. I use one on my desktop and laptop and have never had a problem with either and considering it's been over a year of constant use with only one change of batteries, they last a while.
