Post

I have been researching the RB25DET Neo swap for months now. I have come across a few individuals that have completed the task though have yet to find one write up on that particular swap. Curious if anyone has run past one?? I would love to get a thread going with all the info we can come across for the swap. The neo is just different enough from the s1/s2 rb25's to have its own mess of problems. Its like have a 240sx.. but its a convertable 240sx. Just different enough to piss you off. lol Anywho any info is great info! Here's what i've rally'd up thus far! Hope this helps out someone in need.

RB25 Series 1
250hp
Early R33
Ignitor is on the valve cover
x2 green relays on harness, a. ignitor/coil b. ecu
same coil packs as RB20 + 26
Hydro lifters
Push type Clutch/ transmission
Side feed injectors
Coil packs differ from S1 R33 motors and the NEO and S2 R33 motors.

RB25 Series 2
Late R33
Individual ignitors built into each coil pack
x1 green relay - ECU
Dash plug does not have the thick red wire (possibly blue?)

RB25 Neo
280hp
R34
Ecu is huge white wire like the KA ecu wire plugs
Pull type clutch/transmission
Solid lifters
( have heard it has a better valve train. Also that there are a lot of extra wires in the harness for acessories.)
top feed injectors
smaller combustion chamber
As well as.. different MAF sensors, ECU, harness, plastic timing belt cover (neo) compared to a metal on the R33. Throttle body, TPS, IACV also differs

I know that RB's tend to run hot, try to upgrade the oil pump. Along with that i've heard the neo has a problem with a fised crank collar. Under higher RPM and extreme use the shorter collar round the oil pump gear since they only engage approx 8mm worth of the gear. Longer collars engage correctly, preventing rounding on the oil pump gear and breaking it.
I am noticing the neo's are sold with the AWD transmission's which tend to be a bit of a problem with a RMD 240sx. Going back to the initial press release from nissan. it does look like at one time it was sold with a 2wd transmission, yet havent come across one.
