This weekend I replaced:

Plugs - (NGK)

Plug Wires - (NGK 7mm - Wanted Accel 8mm)

Rotor Cap

Rotor Button

Water Pump - (There was a small leak in the other)

Belts

Cleaned my throttle body

Removed the Black Air Box - (Air Filter)

Replaced old Air Filter with Factory Style K&N (Waiting to get my intake for cone style)

Left Mechanical Fan off - Rewired Electric Fan

Sea Foamed Gas & Oil

I will change the oil this weekend......... (Might drive 100 miles this week)

Well she runs & accelerates like a charm, sounds great, I can't wait to get my intake, exhaust, and headers......

Question:

The fan shroud...... Did you guys who did the electric conversion put the shroud back on??? Or did you leave it off???

left it off.Without the fan in there, it really just has no purpose.I would rather have the air forced through the radiator allowed to flow freely through the engine bay and help with whatever other cooling it might than to have it be trapped in the very front of the bay.

To use Sea Foam I followed this post: (Thanks Thor)

http://www.nissaninfiniticlub....afoam

Thanks Aries & Rownan for the reply.......

I left it off, but was just wondering whether or not this was a no, no...... I didn't think it would be, but just had to check "just in case......."

Seafoam loosens all types of build up.

To rewire the electric fan, I used this "How To" @ 240sx.org:

http://www.240sx.org/links/ins....html

You will not need different belts, although I do recommend if you go as far to take off the mech fan to go ahead and replace at least the water pump belt. All belt replacement would be better though........

How similar would that install be in an s-13? I assume the stock electric fan for the a/c moves enough air in the s-13 as well is that correct?

In my recent experience the a/c fan does not move enough air. I zip tied the vac lines to the two braces on top of the radiator for the intake pipe. Aries, if you have any ideas, i talked about my problem in length under "Electric Fan Problems", any help would be appreciated.

What you can do is go to your local parts shop and pick up a cheap 12-16 inch electric fan and use that as your replacement if you're having problems with the heat.Just wire it to be on while the motor is on, or put it on a switch.

I removed the mechanical fan from my 91 240 and replaced it with a 16" electric one from the parts store. I then bought an adjustable electric thermostat for about $20 and wired it in to the new fan. I also took the stock electric fan off and trimmed the outer edge and mounting arms off with a grinding wheel. I switched the wires in the plug, so it would run in reverse, and mounted it in front of the radiator and condensor behind the front brace that runs from the lower air dam to the hood latch assembly. I have had no problem whatsoever with overheating, even in 95 degree south Georgia weather.

I took the mechanical fan off one time because I was changing my belts and I was wondering if I took it off if I would make any power. Well, for the few days that I had it off, the engine idled really bad and when I put it back on, it went back to normal. Does anyone know why it did that or do I have a wierd engine.
