Wow, sorry to see you have so much bad luck man. Just my opinion, but maybe you should look into a hybrid swap instead of the SR. The LSx series or even a 5.0 will make a very fun S14. I know thats the route I'm going with mine.

Either way, best of luck with your future endeavors.

Lol, don't quit yet. I had my first motor ruined from a weld booger getting in cylinder #4. Then a friend gave me a supposebly good motor, and the head gasket was bad. Fixed it then I overboosted and blew the headgasket. Manifold was leaking around the wastegate area. Fix it again. It blew the gasket again. Took the head to the machine shop and he said that all my problems where from the head. I told him i don't care deck it and I will try again. Guess what it blew again. I got pissed and started boosting the car 15lbs again reving the **** out of it. I wanted to throw a rod. Guess what it didn't throw a rod. I rebuilt the bottom end on the car new rings bearing and I put it together myself. I was so mad about the head I didn't care.

I was looking in the forums then bought another engine from a kid for $250bucks. I put it in myself and had it done in one day. Started it the next day. I have been running since then. Boosting 9lbs running pretty good. Its been like 8 months, I drive the car somewhat hard. I dont like to rag on the car either, I also did a 8hr straight trip in one day and not even one problem. If the engine blows, I won't care I'll just change it again. Another KA is a lot cheaper then another SR. Just get another good motor. Give it another shot. You will get it.

Yeah man. I would hate to see you go. Not that I bow down to the KA or anything. I'm open minded and don't really care what kind of motor you put in it. We just can't have someone give up like that!

I don't blame you for being discouraged. You have had probably the worst sequence of KA-T experiences that I've ever seen.

I, on the other hand, have been very 'lucky' and am now boosting 13psi on the stock block

Maybe it's because I have conversations with my car and kiss the stock valve cover good night 7 days a week?

Who was it that was ka-t, swithched to SR, and now is coming back to ka-t. If your having problems with one motor what makes you think you'll be ok wiht the other unless you leave it STOCK. You runing out of thingd that cna go wrong so there there won't be any room for failure again.

Oh He'll be back, we all come back weather we like it or not.

Doesn't matter how many hybrid swaps we do, how much fun we have. The KA always comes back to hunt us :p

I feel you 100% man. Mine blew a few days ago due to my son and I also was thinking of swapping in something. I saw post in the ca 1/4 mi. Section and I too was disappointed. I want to go 5.0 once one of the guys who have nice mounts decide to capitalize off their effort and start selling them. But then again and I know I'm probably late on this, I seen the guy with the vh swap thread and seen the video and boy did I get a woody.

maybe the ls swap in there, I am pretty knowladgeable (sp.) in v8's. I actually have a ford 390 in my truck out front, but I think that might be a bit much! I dont know, but I am not doing a thing for a few weeks, gonna research for a while while my car sits, DEAD, I hate it again. Its really like I lost a family member!

3rd KA rebuild... I go through that **** every time. '**** it, I'm going SR', I would say, then there was another reason to stay. You could just do it right, and be done with it. That is my plan this time. Just bought a CRX so that I have all the time in the world if I need it.

Do the LSx and enjoy your reliability and best of all, the N/A powerband. Whenever I go V8, the only thing I'm going to miss is the sweet spool and b.o.v music.

I don't know if I would want two 240's given the track record I have had. The 240 seems to be all but reliable, but that is your choice.
