Unfortunately, it's true. Drunken me decided a bad idea would be a good idea, and now my drivers side mirror is broken. Long story short, does anyone know how to take the mirrors off the door? If not, is there somewhere I could go (online or in the NYC area) to purchase a new one? Besides a dealership, of course. I'm trying to avoid going to the dealership, because I know I'm going to get raped because of this -_- Oh, and did I mention, the metal that the mirror is attached to is bent out of shape? Yeah, it is. Any help would be appreciated. Greatly.

Open door. Roll down window. Pull back the door liner near the corner where the mirror is, may need a pry tool for this. You will hear popping noises, this is just the liner clips coming undone; just don't pull hard enough to crack or crease the liner. Remove the little black triangular mirror cover on the interior, it is also just held in by clips. Unbolt the mirror from the door, IIRC you need a 10mm socket or wrench and there are 3 bolts or nuts to remove. Make sure to hold the mirror while removing so it doesn't fall and scratch up your door. Replacement is the reverse of removal.

I'm not sure what bent metal part you are referring to but the mirror mounts directly to the door itself. Hopefully its something that you can bang back into shape or just deal with.

I bought my mirror from courtesy parts for $1XX. The mirror caps come unpainted from Nissan so I did that myself with a color matched spray can.

I took the plastic piece off, and looked at the bolts. When I first looked at it, I thought they were put in backwards. Fortunately, they were not, and my car was made correctly. I fit a 4mm socket on them, so I'll get to taking the piece off when I order a replacement part. It seems the metal piece I'm talking about is the metal that is sealed(by some means, probably a weatherproofing compound) to the frame of the door.

The White strip is what looks like it sealed the two parts together, because now I can stick my finger from the inside and get outside. As you can see, I certainly did a number on the mirror. :tisk:

Id see if you can get it from nissanparts2u.com or search for an online junkyard. I found a bunch of odd parts for my old truck in online junkyards a few years back.

Cheers... :toast:

This reminded me of that Seinfeld episode. Was driving along, and yadda yadda yadda, I now need to replace my side mirror... And lay low for a couple weeks.
