so im kinda confused

been test driving my 240sx with a rebuilt ka24de and the motor seems to run fine. the odd thing is that the temp gauge will go up to hot in like the first 10 mins of driving but when u let off the gas go back down to the middle. coolant never seems to boil out of the overflow so i dont think it is really getting that hot. when i rebuilt it i put a new thermostat, coolant temp sensor, new hoses and there is no leaks. idk what the problem could be. oh another thing the idle is at like 1500 at start up but when it warms up the idle fluctuates so i think it might have a bad tps? does that sound about right?

idle is supposed to be higher on start-up, if its fluctuating that's probably not good though. Id check for vacuum leaks that would make your idle unstable. sounds like your cooling problem could be due to the thermostat sticking, i haven't had firsthand experience but it seems like everyone with a non oem one is having problems like this. when i rebuilt the motor i replaced all the vac hoses. ill pick up a thermostat at work and give it a try
