If some rich guy challenged you to put 20 grand in your pathy/q list out what you would do to your car, and remember it has to be for the car.

I would probably: replace my lift with the same thing, slap some Micky Thompson rims on with some fresh tires,Get my paint job replaced with double clear coats, replace my fading fender flairs,20% all around and replace my windshield,One of those ARB bull bars with the winch in the front and back, replace my front seats with some comfortable seats with 5-point belts,i would then move to the engine and attempt to install a straight-6 that could be tweaked for performance,6-speed manual transmission and performance clutch,Have some high performance brake system(drilled roters, badass calipers),Bose sound system installed,Safari snorkle,Air compressor,Air lockers,I would really like that 5 inch suspension lift we were talking about, that would probably run me around 20k

what would yall do??

All the other stuff I listed, plus take it to a body shop to have all the dents and scratches taken out. I'd also get a new front bumper because mine has two holes in it from where the two bars behind it (don't know what they're called, or what they're there for, for that matter) punctured it when I rear-ended someone. I'd get a new windshield. Mine has some chipping and overall has stuff in the glass I can't get out.Oh, and I'd get a really good paint job. I'd go black.

Brand new ones are more then 20K unless your looking at a 2wd, base model that sat in a auto show and someone threw up in and they hadn't bothered to detail yet. it would also probably have 15K "dealer" miles on it so they still consider it new.

20K can really go a long way if you are the type that can build or fabricate, or anything besides buy off the shelf parts.

For a Big brake kit, I've been looking around and I can get a pair of Skyline R34 GTR Brembo calipers (that look like they might have the same caliper bolt patteren as our R50's) and a set of DBA 5000 series rotors, and have some custom hats made, all for under $1K (more on that later)

ARB Bull Bars w/ lights and wentchARB lockerprobably 5-6K in a custom system (I would pay a pro for this)wheels/tiresTig welder, 2 3/4" piping, brackets, muffler, tips for exhaust - $1Kbuild a couple manifolds, some GT-SS turbos ($1500)suspension (1K)

thats only about 10-12KI guess I'd have to get a standalone, so there's another 2-3KI guess at that point, I'd start doing things just because I can. I guess make a vented hood, get it looking just the way I want it, then make it a mold, and pull out a couple Carbon Fiber copies of it, and maybe the rear hatch. that would probably use up the rest of the money.

Well I would trade in my current Pathfinder, plus the $20k, plus a little financing. I could get a 2010 LE for around $150/month.

With independent suspension at all 4 corner, and 3 rows of seats, the new Pathfinders are nothing but glorified minivans - USELESS for offroad !!!

- New paint job. (Hell, places in Edmonton quoted me $8000 for painting two rear quarter-panels, imagine how much an entire paint job would be.)- Replace bumpers (tons of dings on front and rear), rear quarter-panels (rust)- New windshield (cracked in two places, but not in my line of sight)- New passenger side mirror.- Small, discrete sub installed (like this one)- New headunit, original one is terrible for skipping CDs in cold weather.- Thule bike rack for the hitch.- Big Thule box (e.g. http://www.thuleracks.com/prod...688xt)- Brake controller, 7-pin trailer connector for a small travel trailer.- 120V inverter installed beside the lighter plugs (permanently installed, not just a unit that plugs into the lighter).- ScanGaugeII or similar unit for real-time ECU data.- HIDs and fogs, clear taillights.- Every single white/green light on the dash/console replaced with blue LEDs.

I wouldn't get any offroading gear (winch, snorkel, tires, etc) because this is my only vehicle; I don't want to look like a dork driving on ashphalt every day in a offroad-ready SUV. If I had a car for everyday use, then I'd gear up the Pathy... but until then, no dice. Might get a 2" lift kit, that's it.

I'd start with a VK45DE swap, then a paint job, and new interior. After that I'd keep the rest to pay for the fuel bill.

Yo an offroad ready SUV is f***ing awesome; whats dorky is trying to have a bad-a** personality and stuntin' around in your Ford Fiesta. People will respect you when they see you put your money into something cool like your ride instead of cocaine like everyone else.

Its actually a rebadged Kia, by the way. Made in Korea. I didnt know that until i was looking at the door jamb of a Festiva, like a month ago.

I guess to go on a bit more.... this is my only vehicle, there's no way I'm doing any hardcore off-roading with it and smashing things up. Body damage, paint damage, wrecked steering, etc. Even if I don't completely wreck the Pathy, I still want it to look nice. So I stick to easy stuff, like hauling stuff around my brother's farm, easy dirt trails, etc.

When I get a second vehicle, then ya, I'll throw everything on the Pathy and take her on the trails. But until that time comes, putting offroad gear on it just seems like a waste to me. I don't want to be a poser, I only want the gear if I'm going to use it.

Well its good that you don't want to be a poser, and in retrospect, I never had anyone to lead me in my decision to do what I did, it wasn't until after that I joined NICO here and saw what everyone else had done.

There's no way you are going to get a new PF for $20K.

I'd have real trouble sinking $20K into my 2001 PF. It works for a living (towsmy boat, and incidentally takes me to work). If somebody offered me a checkbook to sink money into, I'd:

Fix the intermittent SES light (cam advance) which the dealer says is caused bythe mechanism on the front of the cam that does the advance ($2.5K), but I think is caused by the oil pressure getting low at low RPS (rebuild the motor,$6K?)

That's about it. At this point, I'll keep it, and make sure I don't punch thethrottle at less than 2500 RPM. Do that, and it will pass California smog testin 2011 and keep going.

This one I'm going to drive until it dies, or won't pass smog. And then I'll buya new one. The only thing that might change my mind is a stick shift optionon the PF.

Now: to you young guys from an old Silverback: I don't need wheels to pickup chicks. I'm a SCUBA diver (EVERY weekend, almost) and boat does a finejob of that, though I've had no need recently, Adm. Linda and have beentogether for 12 years.

No way my 180K mile '01 and $20K is going to get me a new PF.

And I haven't financed a car since my 240Z in '72. I know it's un-American, butCASH talks.
