So if I purchase a Q project vehicle, I want a 90?

As long as its the first 18 months of production your ok, just look on the inside of the drivers side door jamb, or on the plaque on the fire wall underneath the hood, these locations will give you the build date. I think Jesda might still be selling his, its got a lot of work done to it for the price he is asking.

I also think the performance is so close between the years a 92/93 will be fine also.

But yes supposedly the first 18 mos are just a tad stronger according to lore in the community.

The 90 Model year was introduced very late in 1989 ( November).

As a result "first 18 months of production" should actually cover most 91's as well, except maybe the last quarter of production, (maybe early spring 91 production being a good guide).

With 92 production starting approx early summer 91 (and in the showrooms mid september).

But the 92 Model year engine is not a bad one still ahs those sodium filled exhaust valves.

Some have stated that one way to recognize the earliest production engines is that they seem to emit a heartier growl on vigourous acceleration.

But later engine's growl pretty good too.:oface

dkill - there's a 90 model with bad transmission on ebay with a little over a day left, no reserve at $305 right now.

It's in NJ :(

alright guys,,,i have a 90, does mine fit in the 18 months, or should i look for something specific on the door................maybe i'll look now!!!LOL

i have to say,,,,,,when i drop my Q into 1st and manually shift through the rpm's......it DEFINITILY sounds like a formula one race car!!!!!! and it's all stock
