So if I get a new top...

Let's say I get a new top for my vert...will it work the same way as the original with the levers or will it be one where all you have to do is push a button and it locks in place automatically? I don't know if that's possible but it doesn't hurt to ask.

When you buy a new top, what you are getting is the fabric that covers the top frame.

The fabric is usually not to expensive, but the labor to install it over the frame can be pretty pricey.

Some cars come with a full power top that operates on just 1 button press. The 240sx is not one of them. You actually have to hold in the button until the top is all the way up, then snap the brackets shut to hold it in place.

On the flip side... the rear quarter windows do come down automatically when you hold the top down button.
