So I went to put oil in my car and noticed this...

As the title says, this morning, I noticed these. Anyone have any idea what has happend?

You can't really tell in the pics, I tried to get them as clear as possible. They are really fine grooves that are cut into it. I'm pretty sure the brown color isn't any good either. But if anyone has any ideas, let me know. It leaks and burns oil pretty bad, has about 157xxx miles, IHE. It still runs good other than the oil issue. The only thing it does is the timing chain rattle when it starts up, and a slight ticking noise when it runs. Any ideas?

Stick your finger in there and find out if that crap is metallic or if it is plastic. If it's plastic, chances are the chain guides are all but done.If there is metal shavings in there, well, you know what that means.
