THIS IS ON A 1994 SENTRA XE GA1.6 no more 240:(

So i rinsed off my motor a while ago taking care to avoid important electrical components (or so i thought), and now my car is driving like it has only two or 3 cylinders.

So basically here are the issues im having as of now, and im pretty sure it has to be either a sensor(s) or an electrical issue?

when i shift into gear (manual of course) it kind of lurches or bogs and it takes a second for it to catch itself, and when it does it does so it accelerates very slowly, until i get to higher revs, but its still not what it used to be.

Occasionally when i through it into neutral to stop or even slow down it dies, but thats not so common.

so overview: car has lost power mainly (but not exclusively) at low to mid rpms, bogging and hesitation with gear change, sometimes shuttering

i installed a new

fuel filter,

new spark plugs,

cleaned the mass air flow sensor,

changed the air filter

i know the clutch is new i have the receipt on (on warranty yet) from previous owner

i checked the distributor/points kinda cleaned them

and do more than routine maintenance on the car

any ideas, any at all?

Greatly appreciated!

I am humbly asking for advice from some more knowledgeable than me

-Jake o yea i said humbly

You need to do a power drop test...with the engine running, pull the spark wire off each spark plug and see which ones affect the engine running. The cylinders that don't affect how the engine is running are the ones that are having a problem.

After that you should swap the spark plug wire on the bad cylinder with one from a good one and do the power drop test again. If the problem moves to the cylinder you swapped with, then the problem is a bad spark plug wire.

If it doesn't move, then it's not likely to be an ignition problem.
