I used power sander and the bits and pieces of metal flying around was hurting me so I put some protective gears on and got a little carried away... :D

terrorlst can't afford nikes so we go crazy with sandals

1) I used power sander to make some groves out of the brake dust shield so I can push it back in so the q45 rotors will clear2) I took the rotors and the calipers off, I didn't touch the hub.

You should have just removed the dust shield all together.

thats what i was thinking, but i can't imagine how hard it would be to get that hub off, especially being 12 years old and never have been taken off before. Its a big 3omm bolt, so i dunno if i have the strength even with a cheater bar to break it lose. I dont have an impact wrench though :(

it's actually a 36mm socket (at least it is on the s14, s13 might be different) and you just need a rachet and socket. it's pretty tight but you can stand on it, the hub won't spin like the back.

how do you get the shield off? i had one apart last week and it looked like there was another dust shiled for the bearing over the big one. there weren't any bolts or anything, i guess they were just pressed on. anybody know any specifics?

it's actually pretty easy, the spindle is well protected and lubed so it isn't rusted. and assuming you have the right tools (socket and rachet, i didn't need a cheater bar) it takes about two minutes. you should probably have a torque wrench handy though when you put them back on.

why take it out when you can just push it in a little and it still kind of works?
