it was nothing but silly speculation. search nico, you'll find a few more different versions of what random people thought it would look like. it's not going to happen, never speak of it again.

Yep we sure did, I don't know the whole story, but nissan scrapped the idea, those ads came up like almost two years ago now.

Better put your helmet on.

Even if they make one (not happening) it wouldn't look anything like that or the other 14 'S16' concepts. Nissan decided America wasn't cool enough for S-Chassis in 1999.

And they didn't think we were worthy of having a GTR here either until recently. It seems Mr. Ghosn doesn't mind sending cars like that here now...

But the S16 won't be happening for a long time. With Nissan dumping millions and millions into their electric car program, their focus is elsewhere...

One day we will get one, but not anytime soon

they had plans to make a competitor to the new Toyota ae86 rebirth or Hyundai Genesis coupe-- but in the end they scrapped it when the economy started to tank so now the only RWD fun and economical cars out will be the Genesis coupe and the Subaru/ Toyota rwd coupe..

Depending on the success of the Theta Genesis Coupe and Toyobarus car, maybe Nissan would do a Scompact sports car.But as is, i think the 350 and 370 fill that void perfectly and Nissan has no reason to produce a smaller car.

The Theta coupe isnt that popular anyway, the Toyobarus' success is as of yet to be seen, but i dont think it will dent the market enough for Nissan to seriously think of producing a rival.

DO people really want a new 2.x litre sportscar anyway?

Yes this is true, they did announce they had plans on building an entry level, front engine, RWD coupe to the market after the GTR was released a couple of years ago...

And how things have changed.

I still wait patently for that announcement from Nissan about it, but I fear that day is not coming anytime soon. With the electric car program, and now plans to work with Tata, to build a version of the Nano, it will probably be a while until Nissan wants to put money into developing a car to compete with the Genesis Coupe and Toybaru...

Well the Genesis has been out for some time now, and sales have been less than stellar, and even with the Toybaru coming up here quite soon, for Nissan, it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to add a car to their already enormous lineup unless it stand to make a ton of profit for them...which it probably won't

Nissan has made a public commitment to the electric car, and having the Leaf coming next year, and plans to build a Nano-like car for the European and US market, Nissan is probably content in waiting for the honeymoon with the Genesis and new Toybaru to settle, and waiting for the worlds economy to bounce back before jumping into that market again

I don't think we will see an S16 for another 4 or 5 years, regardless of how great the Toybaru does...

Exactly my point.Im glad someone sees it from a logical stand point instead of just like a fanboy. As nice as an S16 would be, there is no reason for Nissan to do one.So they probably wont.

OP is just slow.Im amazed this thread has lasted this long.

Nonetheless, freeposts are free, might as well rack them up while i can.

an s13 or s14 with a gt2871 or higher sr20 will absolutely kick the crap out of a 350z turbo or no turbo.... The 370z looks like it has a lot of promise but they are still too new. The genesis coupe is crap -- I have driven a 2.0t track and it was slow not to mention no boost gauge out the box. They look nice but with stability control and a heavy car it makes for a lethargic ride.....
