alright i've searched the forum, some help, not all i need though.Anyways i'm running ka-t now, with a turbonetics t3/t4, turbonetics wastegate and turbonetcics raptor blow off valve. I've adjusted the "preload" on the bov every which way, and it still flutters at every shift whenever i boost. duh. but i mean i have it holding at 15 lbs, but i can shift out at 5 10 or 15 lbs, and i'm still getting surge. Now i'm hoping replacing the bov will solve my problem before i have to take any other steps. i know the synapse is the "best" for surge, but i was aiming at the ssqv. Not for the sound, but i heard it was pretty decent. Any comments would be appreciated.

Your probably not getting a good enough vacuum sorce to your bov. Before you go and buy another bov, use a larger diameter vac hose and hook it up to your brake booster vac line.

is the vacuum the same at the intake or intercooler pipe, as it is at the brake booster line?

^there is no vacuum before the throttle body...the brake booster line comes off the intake plenum after the throttle body so there is vacuum there.

It's probably not compressor surge you're hearing man. The BOV you're using should be more then enough to prevent surge. If the bov is venting, then you're not getting surge. Surge is when the bov doesn't open and the air is forced back through the compressor housing and it will make a whirling sound as the air waves bounce through the compressor blades. Not just a psssht.

Anyway you can record it?

Unhook the vac line to your bov, and get in boost.. then let off, and see if it makes the same noise. If it does, your bov is the problem. lol.

I personally love the sound of compressor surge, but I guess it's not a good thing..

and this is the other video i made, i didn't really have enough room on this parking garage, and my car honestly accelerates way too fast, and i'm in need of better brakes, haha.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVOYCGiiYVQ

oh and here's a tip. watch the vid, and then try and click on 29 seconds into the video, it is right when i blow off, and you can keep clicking there and what not, haha. and at that exact 29 seconds, you can see my front right tire come off the ground. pretty sick, haha

dude.. that might be compressor surge. i just rebuilt my turbo and realized i had similar sounding noise, so i just went out and checked the line to my bov. turns out the line to the bov was jammed between the turbo heatshield and the shock tower so it was probably not opening either...

heres what mine sound(ed) like. much better vid than u lol :Pif your's sounds similar, then its surge.

http://video.google.com/videop...hl=en

i'll let you know if mine starts sounding different now that i loosened that line up.

on my old s14 ka-t it sounded like that. but it didnt have a "bov" it had a bypass valve. just like a bov but slightly different design that recirculates. i liked the sound haha
