ok so i wanna go lsd with disk breaks on my hb and i know one thing for sure so far im going to need a custom drivshaft.

this is what i was thinking. get a lsd out of a 4x4 HB and swap the disk breaks from a pathy onto the axle and get a new driveshaft made.

but there are a few things i need to know first.

1. how common is it to find a lsd in a 4x4 hb?

2. is the distance between the leaf springs the same?

3. will i need a new proportioning valve when i go to disk breaks?

thanks you

I'll take a crack at these, please correct me if I am wrong or miss anything.

1) I believe only the SEV6 models and pathfinders came with LSD.

2) The spring perches will need to be cut and rewelded to the bottom side of the axle, distance apart should be close on the trucks because they all used the same basic frame...minus the minor differences in mounting. I can't speak for the Pathfinder, it's mounting system is completely different.

3) I would venture to say that you will need to fabricate a new mount on the axle to accommodate the original prop valve but the original can still be used and would be preferred.

You wouldn't, not unless you used a whole Pathy assembly.

I think Rev was talking about if it came off a 4wd HB with spring-over setup, then you would need to weld your spring-under perches onto the axle.

It all depends on what you can get your hands on.

I wonder how much an custom aluminium driveshaft is compared to a custom steel one?

You need the whole axle for a swap into a 2wd truck. Even the 4x4 pickup axle will need to have perches cut and rewelded because they're spring over axle, not spring under like the 2wd trucks.

That said, I'd just pull an entire axle out of a SE Pathfinder, cut the link brackets off and weld perches to that. Your same driveshaft would probably work, but you'll need the flange end outside of the Ujoint from the H233b driveshaft. The Ujoints are the same though, so it'll press right on.

Like I said, you have to press the end off the Ujoint from your DS and use one from the Pathfinder.

The flange is larger on the h233b axle, but it does use the same spicer 1310 ujoint.
